Kitchen Assistant

Job Description

• Assist FCE, NFS and ALP teachers during cooking lessons and practical sessions.
• Prepare materials and equipment for lessons, assessments and programmes.
• Clean, sanitise and maintain cookery rooms, preparation room and container cabin.
• Monitor and update food supplies, perishables, dry goods and kitchen inventory.
• Maintain kitchen equipment and utensil records.
• Assist with receiving food deliveries from vendors.
• Ensure kitchens are safely secured, including switching off electricity and gas after use.
• Report facility issues and potential safety hazards to the relevant coordinator.
• Provide support during practical sessions and assist with school programmes.
• Perform other duties assigned by the department or school.

Requirements

• Basic understanding of English.
• Minimum 3 years’ experience as a Food &Nutrition Kitchen Assistant.
• Valid WSQ Food Safety Course Level 1 certificate.
• Good interpersonal and teamwork skills.
• Patient and supportive when assisting students during practical lessons.
• Meticulous in food preparation, stock-taking, housekeeping and cleaning.
• Good awareness of food hygiene and kitchen safety.
• Organised, responsible and able to work independently.
• Adaptable, willing to learn and able to complete tasks within deadlines.
