We're looking for innovative, passionate, and talented people like you to join our team.

We’re searching for a Senior Data Engineer to be part of our IT Department diverse team of talent. You will be responsible to design, build and operate trusted, scalable data solutions for SSMC’s manufacturing and enterprise data platform. The Senior Data Engineer will independently enable data discovery, onboarding, integration, replication and consumption; strengthen data quality, governance and security; and apply forward-looking technologies to support analytics, digitalisation and strategic business initiatives. This is a 1 year contract.

What you will be working on:

  • Design, develop, and maintain data tracks and reusable data products on the SSMC Data Platform using MinIO, StarRocks, and other modern data technologies.
  • Develop and optimize end-to-end data ingestion, integration, replication, and analytics pipelines.
  • Support and enhance data platform services, including storage, data access, metadata, and data lifecycle management.
  • Work with business stakeholders to understand requirements, define data models, and establish data governance standards.
  • Drive data discovery, source-to-target mapping, and data onboarding activities for project implementation.
  • Ensure data quality, lineage, security, and compliance across the data lifecycle.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex data, platform, and integration issues through root-cause analysis and continuous improvement.
  • Evaluate and adopt emerging technologies and best practices to strengthen the organization's data platform capabilities.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver scalable, reliable, and business-driven data solutions.
  • Implement service requests, enhancements, and operational support for enterprise data platforms and internal applications.
  • Provide technical support to internal IT teams and business users.

More About You:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Professional Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Data Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Relevant certification in databases, data engineering, cloud or data platform technologies will be an advantage.
  • At least 5 years of relevant experience in data engineering, data management, database solutions or enterprise application delivery; manufacturing experience is preferred.
  • Strong hands-on capability in data discovery, data modelling, SQL, ETL/ELT, data integration, database views and source-to-target mapping.
  • Practical experience with data replication, validation, troubleshooting and production data flows across different systems.
  • Good understanding of manufacturing data and operational systems such as MES, SPC, equipment, quality, process or reporting domains.
  • Experience with relational databases such as Oracle, PostgreSQL or equivalent technologies.
  • Experience in MinIO or other object storage, lakehouse or data warehouse platforms, Spark, Airflow, Kafka, Trino or equivalent technologies
  • Exposure to BI and reporting platforms such as Tableau, Power BI or equivalent is advantageous.
  • Proven ability to work with business users, project teams, vendors and internal IT stakeholders to deliver production-ready solutions.
  • Forward-looking and curious: You enjoy anticipating future data needs and turning promising technologies into practical value.
  • Proactive and accountable: You can work independently with limited supervision and take ownership of your deliverables.
  • Analytical problem-solver: You approach complex issues with structured root-cause analysis and evidence-based decisions.
  • Passionate about trusted data: You value data quality, governance, security, lineage and long-term maintainability.
  • Clear communicator: You can explain complex data concepts confidently to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Collaborative team player: You influence positive outcomes, share knowledge and guide less-experienced engineers.
  • Calm under pressure: You can balance multiple priorities and respond effectively to critical data or production issues.

SSMC is firmly committed to upholding equal employment opportunities for all individuals. We strictly adhere to the Tripartite Guidelines on Fair Employment Practices (TGFEP), the Singapore Food Safety and Security Act 2025 (FSSA 2025), and the Singapore Code of Advertising Practice.
