Overview / Responsibilites
Massy Wood is recruiting for a Shell BMU Project HSSE&S Team Lead with considerable experience in the oil and gas industry.
The HSSE&S Team Leader is responsible for developing, implementing and improving Massy Wood Group HSSE&S Management System to meet Company business objectives and expectations. The Team Leader is also responsible for planning and communicating (e.g. Populate improvement plans with sub area activities to achieve objectives; Schedule timeframe delivery); implementing (Delivery of sub-area against timeframe, communicate plan progress, seek out collate local feedback, share good practice); monitoring & reviewing (Monitor progress against success criteria and timeframe; conducting reviews against good practice; revising plans to close gaps identified against success criteria and closing Out (Complete close out review)
Technical
- Assist with the development, implementation and monitoring of the Business Unit (BU) HSSE&S annual plan in accordance with Massy Wood Group, BU, and worksite requirements.
- Provide HSSE&S assistance wherever needed to ensure compliance and conformance to the Massy Wood Group HSSE&S Management System that result in continuous improvement.
- Provide support for management level HSSE&S meetings e.g. Monthly Performance Reviews. Continuous improvement of HSSE&S performance setting long-term goals and establishing key performance indicators to measure achievement.
- Attend client and contractor progress / alignment meetings to ensure all issues are closed out in timely manner. Ensure that the management of HSSE&S is not treated as a separate function but as an integral part of productivity, competitiveness and profitability and that Safety risks (Integrity Management and Occupational) are managed as part of our business risks.
- Support the line management and Coordinators in monitoring that company standards and statutory duties are being met and audited as required BU Permit to Work System audits and Massy Wood Group HSSE&S Assurance Process.
- Support managers, in their dealings with the regulatory authorities, exemptions and approval with regard to the installations and or project activities.
- Provide a comprehensive advice, interpretation and information service on all aspects of HSSE&S, including legislation and associated guidance, to all in the BU, including functional support to onshore and offshore BU HSSE&S staff thereby ensuring consistency of approach in all areas of HSSE&S management and programme implementation
- Assist in identifying and providing HSSE&S related training for Massy Wood Group locations by providing input and material into training and awareness presentations.
- Liaise with HSSE&S Manager to gain appropriate specialist advice and support and give essential feedback for lateral learning including assisting with representation on Government/Industry Committees and Working Parties as required.
- Prepare and provide statistical performance data, using the HSSE&S Information Management System including screening of all high potential, reviewing incident trends and lost time incidents, ensuring that these are presented to the Massy Wood Group management team and monitor action follow up.
- Provide advice and guidance on all matters relating to HSSE&S Management System, Safety Case, Major Hazard Register and the Massy Wood Group Case library including maintaining the BU HSSE&S Management System Manuals.
- Act as focal point for Occupational Hygiene including the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH), Chemical Handling Scheme, Noise, Heat Stress, Manual Handling and Display Screen equipment, Radiation Protection including maintenance of authorizations under the Radioactive Substances Act for offshore sources and maintenance of LSA register records.
- Provide proactive advice and support on environmental issues; including guidance and interpretation of policies and standards; monitoring, auditing and updating of procedures, the Environmental Management System (EMS) and assessments and improvement studies; act as focal point for certain environmental notification and exemption procedures, the annual Carbon Footprint Action Plan and maintain the Environmental database for the BU.
- Displaying visible leadership utilizing the use of variety of techniques that visibly involve employees at all levels in the HSSE&S protection of their workers.
- Exhibit leadership qualities (role model and holding persons under his/her control accountable with emphasis on raising the bar on individual performance management.
- Mentor the line and the function regarding behavior related issues utilizing Recognition & Reinforcement, coaching to assist others to accept ownership and just culture when necessary.
- Encourage and support the development of HSSE&S team members.
- Adhere to all HSSE&S policies/procedures and participate in Leading Indicators that will result in a Zero Accidents culture.
- Perform all other related job functions as required.
Qualifications
Education & Formal Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Safety and Health from a recognized university.
- National Examination Board of Safety and Health (NEBOSH)
- Certificate/Diploma Certificate/Diploma from a recognized Safety Professional Board.
Competencies & Experience:
- A minimum of twelve (12) years’ experience in a similar position.
- Exposure at an operational location associated with Oil/Gas exploration, production and or processing, preferably in a line position.
- Broad knowledge of HSSE&S regulations (TT laws, API, OSHA, NFPA, OHSAS 18001, ISO 14000) as relates to contractor management.
- A minimum of seven (7) years’ experience in Oil & Gas/Process industries.
- Excellent communications and interpersonal skills.
- Understands the principles of integrating responsibility for HSSE&S within the management system.
- Good understanding of current international standards for HSSE&S systems.
- Knowledge of integrated HSSE&S Management System structure, resources for training and implementation of HSSE&S policies and procedures.
- Proven experience executing key business processes both as a professional and Supervisor. Must have a thorough understanding of how HSSE&S management systems work and how they can be improved.
- Training in the implementation and auditing of HSSE&S Management Systems.
- Maintains the highest level of confidentiality and trustworthiness.
- Ability to synthesize complex or diverse information.
- Ability to work effectively and prioritize in a high performance, fast-paced work environment.

- Police Certificate of Good Character (must not be older than 6 months)
