SCOPE OF THE POSITIONThe Accounting Manager is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day accounting operations of the organization and ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of financial reporting. This role manages key accounting functions, supports financial controls and compliance activities, develops accounting staff, and serves as a strategic partner to the Director of Accounting in maintaining sound financial management practices.

RESPONSIBILITIES• Manages monthly, quarterly, and annual accounting close processes to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting• Prepares and reviews financial statements, management reports, and supporting schedules• Analyzes financial results and provides recommendations to support business decisions• Evaluates profitability, capital expenditures, and budget performance to support operational and strategic decision-making• Assists with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis activities• Prepares and reconciles monthly work in progress (WIP) schedules• Maintains fixed asset records and depreciation schedules• Oversees general accounting activities, including general ledger maintenance, account reconciliations, and financial record accuracy• Oversees cost accounting processes and ensures accurate project cost tracking, reporting, and analysis• Ensures timely and accurate processing of accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll-related accounting, expense reports, cash management activities, and tax-related transactions• Reviews and approves balance sheet reconciliations and supporting documentation• Monitors cash flow activities and ensures adequate controls are maintained• Reviews monthly bank reconciliations and investigate variances as needed• Leads, develops, and mentors accounting team by establishing goals, promoting accountability, managing performance, and fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, continuous improvement, and professional growth • Establishes performance expectations and provides ongoing feedback• Maintains compliance with company policies, accounting standards, regulatory requirements, and internal controls• Oversees the filing of our sales and use tax returns• Oversees the licensing, bonding, and controlled insurance programs for compliance• Supports internal and external audits by preparing schedules, documentation, and responding to requests• Conducts or assists with internal audits and compliance reviews to evaluate adherence to company policies, accounting standards, and internal controls• Serves as immediate backup to the Director of Accounting• Identifies opportunities to improve accounting processes, procedures, and internal controls• Assists with tax filings, tax audits, and other regulatory reviews, as assigned• Performs other miscellaneous and related duties, as required, or assigned

WORKING CONDITIONS • Must be able to work scheduled hours as well as overtime, as required, on short notice• Must be able to remain calm in times of heightened emotional situations• Must work well with others as a member of a team to complete tasks

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS• Must be able to wear personnel protective equipment (i.e., hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, high visibility vest, safety harness, etc.) when required• Repetitive use of arms, hands, and fingers• Possess good vision/hearing (normal or corrected)• Ability to work while sitting or standing for long periods• Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds at times

EDUCATION• Bachelors’ degree in Accounting, or equivalent professional experience, preferred
