Job description

Title: Accommodation Specialist

Location: Hybrid - 3 days onsite, 2 days remote Boston - at Renaissance Park - 1135 Tremont Street, 8th floor.

Contract length: 6 months

Hours: 40hrs - 8-5 or 9-6 would be fine

Pay: 30-35

JOB SUMMARY

The Accommodation Specialist holds primary responsibility for managing the disability and pregnancy-related accommodation process for employees and applicants for employment. The Accommodation Specialist will assess, coordinate, and implement reasonable accommodations for faculty and staff by working collaboratively with other key members of the university including, Human Resources, department managers, and the Office of General Counsel. The Accommodation Specialist works to advance accessibility in university programs and services as it relates to equal access in employment.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge of federal and state disability regulations, specifically ADA/ADAAA, FMLA, and Massachusetts Chapter 151B. Ability to multitask and effectively manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment. Ability to develop collaborative relationships and influence others of all levels across the university. Ability to think critically and use analytical skills to make decisions that adhere to state and federal regulations and university policies. Excellent written and oral communication skills with strong attention to detail. Proficiency in Microsoft Office including Word and Excel with experience in database/case management systems. Knowledge and skills required are typically acquired through a bachelor's degree in psychology, social work, human services, or related field plus at least 3 to 5 years of progressive case management experience related to ADA/ADAAA, preferably in higher education.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & ACCOUNTABILITIES

1) Engages in the interactive process with employee and key stakeholder(s) to review, assess, and make determination on reasonable accommodations for both disability and pregnancy-related matters. Ensures decisions for reasonable accommodations are made timely and in adherence to federal,

state, and local disability regulations. Reviews sensitive medical documentation and communicates, as needed, with treating providers.

2) Documents and maintains up to date records of interactions and steps through the interactive process, including request outcomes, in system of record. Drafts and issues determination on accommodation requests.

3) Provides training on the employee accommodation process and other disability-related topics to managers, division leaders and university partners and during new-hire orientation. Partners with recruitment, as applicable, to support applicants who require accommodations

during the hiring process

4) Remains abreast on disability related regulations, industry standards, and case-law impacting individuals with disabilities.

5) Collaborates with Leave Management Team on intersection of ADA and leave related matters including leave exhaustion and return to work. Ensures members of the university are referred to appropriate offices when matters related to

disability necessitate additional referrals such as issues related to discrimination or workers' compensation.
