AI & Software Development Apprentice

Salary: £15,000 - 18,000 per year

Requirements

• Enthusiasm for AI and software, strong technical curiosity, problem-solving ability, and determination to work through challenges.
• Existing experimentation with coding, AI tools, or automation; personal projects, coursework, scripts, or app integrations can demonstrate potential.
• Coding familiarity in Python, JavaScript, or another language is useful.
• Creativity, clear thinking, attention to detail, and the ability to work well with others.

Responsibilities

• Build and test AI-assisted applications for real business use.
• Connect apps and services using APIs and tools such as Zapier, Make, and n8n.
• Develop software to support product listings, ecommerce, and our internal operational systems.
• Support production and stock workflows, including capturing product information and photographs with our mobile app and organising equipment in the correct stock areas.
• Work with code, databases, and AI tools to solve practical problems.
• Explore ideas and help turn promising ones into reliable, useful applications.
• Work hands-on with hardware, equipment, and processes.

Our small, friendly, professional team is integrating AI into our software and business systems, including tools for product identification, listing creation, app integration, and commercial decision-making. This is a full-time, on-site apprenticeship in Northampton. We provide structured training, a recognised qualification, paid learning time, mentoring, and practical experience developing software and AI integrations used in a real business. The role can evolve around your strengths, interests, and our business needs, with opportunities to contribute ideas and take on increasing responsibility. Our current system uses PostgreSQL, .NET, React, and Tailwind, alongside ChatGPT Pro and Codex. Pay is £15,000–£18,000 per year; benefits include casual dress and free on-site parking.
