Trueline is seeking an Associate Attorney to join an established, growing estate planning and elder law firm at its new Parkersburg office.

This opportunity is ideal for an attorney who enjoys helping people and wants to build a practice focused on protecting families and planning for their futures. Estate planning experience is welcome, but training is available for attorneys transitioning from personal injury, family law, litigation, or general practice.

You’ll be the primary attorney in the Parkersburg office, supported by a legal assistant, office manager, and sales executive, with guidance from the firm’s Managing Attorney.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead client consultations to understand each family’s goals and explain appropriate estate planning options.
  • Help prospective clients understand the firm’s services and make informed decisions about moving forward.
  • Prepare and oversee estate planning documents, including wills, trusts, and related legal documents.
  • Assist with estate administration, probate, and elder law matters, including long-term-care and public benefits planning.
  • Guide clients through planning and signing meetings.
  • Collaborate with support staff and the Managing Attorney to deliver accurate, timely work.
  • Maintain organized client files using the firm’s practice management systems.
  • Participate in training and follow established procedures for client service and legal work.

What You’ll Bring

  • A Juris Doctor degree and an active West Virginia or Ohio law license.
  • If not already admitted in West Virginia, eligibility and willingness to obtain admission promptly; the required timeline will be confirmed during the interview process.
  • Strong communication skills and a warm, professional approach to clients.
  • Confidence leading consultations and discussing services and fees.
  • Interest in learning estate planning and elder law.
  • Strong organization, attention to detail, and sound legal judgment.
  • Ability to work fully in-office in Parkersburg.

Attorneys seeking a transition from courtroom work or the administrative demands of solo practice are encouraged to apply.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Approximately $90,000 base salary, with limited flexibility based on qualifications.
  • Uncapped monthly bonus, guaranteed at $2,000 per month for the first six months.
  • Expected monthly bonus opportunity of $2,000–$6,000 after the initial ramp-up period, based on performance.
  • Estimated first-year total compensation of approximately $114,000–$138,000 at the stated base; earnings beyond the initial bonus guarantee are not guaranteed.
  • Relocation assistance generally ranging from $5,000–$10,000, subject to repayment terms.
  • Medical coverage beginning after 60 days, with multiple plan options. Employee premiums vary by plan and coverage tier; dependent coverage carries substantially higher costs.
  • Dental and vision benefits, including employer-paid vision coverage.
  • Firm-paid life insurance and optional supplemental benefits.
  • 401(k) with an employer match of up to 4% when contributing 5%, subject to plan terms.
  • 15 days of PTO, prorated in the first year, plus 40 hours of paid volunteer time.
  • Free estate planning for employees and discounts for family members.

Why Consider This Opportunity?

  • Monday–Friday schedule, averaging approximately 45–48 hours per week.
  • No on-call responsibilities.
  • Rare court appearances.
  • Training in a focused practice area.
  • The opportunity to help establish a new office with the systems and support of a growing firm.

Our customers face the dual challenge of finding the right talent and telling their unique story in a crowded marketplace, which is why we have evolved into a comprehensive solution for both. Trueline began its journey in 2007 as a publishing company, dedicated to creating award-winning trade publications that highlighted the achievements of industry leaders. As we deepened our relationships with these executives, we recognized a critical need: they didn't just need a platform for their stories; they needed a partner to help them build the teams that made those stories possible. Today, we are a fully remote recruiting, marketing, and publishing firm with roots in Portland, Maine, serving clients across the United States, Canada, and Latin America. We believe that the most successful companies are those that can find the 'through line' between their culture and their hires. Our proprietary recruiting process goes beyond simple placement; we leverage our background in storytelling to create evergreen custom content that showcases our clients as top-choice employers. This unique blend of services allows us to not only source off-the-market candidates from our extensive network but also to strengthen our clients' employer brands for the long term. At the heart of our operations is our 'shaka' culture—inspired by our founder's Hawaiian upbringing—which symbolizes aloha, joy, and a commitment to intentional lightheartedness. Whether we are crafting a new brand identity, managing a complex recruitment campaign, or publishing an industry journal, our team is driven by a shared passion for helping businesses grow and thrive.
