JOB SUMMARY
The Assistant Project Manager is responsible for supporting Project Managers, along with leading basic projects with minimum to no supervision. This position is able to efficiently lead basic production efforts including direct interface to ISG design and engineering, purchasing, production department, logistics, and direct customer interface.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- A working knowledge of electrical construction at a level normally acquired through completion of a 5-year electrical apprentice program or a bachelor’s degree in construction engineering management or related field; and
- 2 - 3 years’ experience in a Project Engineer or Assistant Project Manager position.

- Must have the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Highly proficient with MS Office software.
- Ability to read mechanical/electrical drawings.

- Ability to contribute and work in a team environment.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide Project Management level support and services from concept through production.
- Ensure ISG quality standards are adhered to.
- Coordinate shipment, field services, along with post product delivery support.
- Assist Project Managers and/or Engineering with coordination, review, and approval of project shop drawings, submittals, and operation and maintenance documents, in conjunction with project specifications, and production requirements.
- Detailed tracking and reporting of projects and product, from estimate to delivery.
- Ability to provide estimating and estimating support of ISG product and services.
- Provide leadership, coordination, and direction to staff, including administrative, procurement, design/CAD, logistics production, and field services group.
- Generally, works under the direction of a Project Manager.
- Able to fully manage basic and repeat projects and products.
- Front line customer interface developing scope of goods and services.
- Customer and market identification and development.
- Perform other tasks and special projects as assigned.
CONTRACT AWARENESS
- Read and understand the limits to the required scope of work (when a change order is required).
- Understand how to find the notice requirements for constructive changes, delays, or project acceleration.
- Determine the pricing for the job (i.e. fixed price, T & M, GMP, etc.).
- Know and understand the closeout requirements.
- Know and understand the term of the contract or period for performance.
- Know and understand how the “Contract Amendment/Change Order Process” is addressed in the contract.
MANPOWER/SCHEDULING
- Develop and use appropriately a man loading project schedule.
- Evaluate manpower needs using the cost to complete, job cost tracking report, and the project schedule.
- Analyze how we are doing against estimate, use to predict manpower needs for job (The Cost to Complete Report addresses this measurement).
- NOTIFY company Superintendent, as soon as possible, of significant changes to you most recent manpower forecast.
- Track labor by phases and accurately report labor on the Cost to Complete.
COST TO COMPLETE REPORTS
- Analyze the cost to complete report with PM.
- Accurately update percent complete reports and reports assisting PM in reporting.
- Walk production area with Field Leaders and discuss production forecasts.
- Update estimated hours and costs monthly on the cost to complete report with PM.
CHANGE ORDERS
- Coordinate/assign responsibilities for change proposals with PM. Work with the PE, PA and field leaders for proposals, scope of work definitions and clarity.
- Review proposals for proper pricing and presentation. Turn in change order pricing timely (based on contract time frame) and within customer constraints.
- Review log of changes at least monthly. Take necessary action.
- In special cases and in coordination with PA, follow up for billing and payment.
- Help PA obtain budgets for accounting.
OTHER
- Performs other tasks and special projects as assigned.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Leadership experience in a field environment.
- Construction management experience.
- Experience in the construction industry.
- Estimator/project supervisor experience.
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
- Offering: $85,000 - 105,000 per year

- PTO accrual of up to 120 hours in a full year (subject to plan terms thereafter).
- 7 company paid holidays.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
- Required to maintain a valid driver's license.
- Requires travel: Minimal (up to 10%).
- Background check, credit check, MVR and drug screen may be required (will vary by position).
