Our Victory Learning Center Programs offers specialized educational services for students who are diagnosed with Autism or a Cognitive Disability paired with a mental health diagnosis. There are three separate sites conveniently located in Lackawanna, NY, with a fourth site opening! Our schools service students ages 5-21, who are residentially placed or are referred through their local school district's Committee on Special Education.

Behavior Support Supervisor

Summary

The Victory Learning Center will include working with students, 5 – 21 years old that are typically diagnosed on the Autism spectrum with mental health concerns and developmental or intellectual disabilities. The Behavior Support Technician (BST) working in an educational setting is responsible for the delivery of evidence-based methods to support individuals’ special needs. These methods include Applied Behavior Analysis, Restorative Practices, and Trauma Informed Care. The BST will provide classroom support; classroom observation; data collection; completing preference assessments; treatment integrity monitoring; supporting staff to implement individual behavior or ADL protocols and behavior intervention plans. In addition, regular assistance with personal hygiene tasks is required. Each individual also may be assigned to one or more special projects including administrative and organizational tasks associated with these assignments.

Essential Job Duties:The Behavior Technician must be able to successfully perform all essential functions of the position as follows:• Takes an active role in participating in and supporting a therapeutic and safe milieu.• Develops a working knowledge of therapeutic interventions and interactions.• Observes behaviors and communicates to the supervisor, medical, and others as appropriate.• Works cooperatively with the Education team in the collection of pertinent data to assist in the development of the Individual Education Plan (IEP).• Assist with and/or independently complete preference assessments for individuals on a monthly and/or as needed basis.• Assist with and/or independently gather information for functional behavior assessments.• Assists with training on student’s BIP, behavior and ADL protocols.• Provides ongoing feedback regarding the individual’s response to the behavior plan.• Assists with conducting fidelities for treatment integrity.• Assist the education team with making materials for behavior plans, ADL protocols, and individual behavioral protocols.• Responsible for assistance with crisis support.• Responsible for the administration and teaching of ADLs as required.• Responsible for assistance with personal hygiene tasks, as required.• Update and review behavior data on a regular basis. • Basic knowledge of sensory equipment use and how to provide successful sensory integration to individuals as indicated by their sensory menu and needs assessment.• Has basic knowledge of alternative communication techniques including AAC devices and basic sign language.• Knowledge of normal growth and development and the impact of the developmental disabilities on the individual and his/her family.• Attends and facilitates or participates in community meetings, team meetings, and debrief meetings.• Understands how to relay information to peers regarding up-to-date information and provide feedback to the education team. • Assists with conducting professional development training and team building activities. • Performs all scheduled cleaning tasks and environmental rounds. • Performs student belongings searches, as directed by administration. Understands the contraband list.• Any other duty as assigned by your supervisor.

Skills

Minimum Education Required: • High school DiplomaOR• Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Applied Behavior Analysis, Psychology, Human Services, Special Education or related

Minimum Experience Required: • High school: Minimum Experience Required: 10 plus years in the development/implementation of behavior support plans with individuals who have developmental disabilities, intellectual disabilities, and/or mental health concerns. *Must demonstrate basic knowledge and competencies in Applied Behavioral AnalysisOR • Bachelors: Minimum Experience Required: 1-2 years in the development/implementation of behavior support plans with individuals who have developmental disabilities, intellectual disabilities, and/or mental health concerns. *Must demonstrate basic knowledge and competencies in Applied Behavioral Analysis

License/Registration/ Certifications Required:• Valid NYS Driver’s License• OLV Human Services will train otherwise qualified individuals. Preference will be given to those with the following credentials:o Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) ORo Board Certified Assistant Behavior Analyst (BCaBA)

Requirements

  • Continuing education as per NYS Office of Profession guidelines• All required agency trainings (including new hire, SCIP-R, Ukeru, Risking Connections, Restorative Practices)• All trainings required by programs in which you service individuals

The overall nature of the position is sedentary requiring little physical effort with occasional light physical exertion required. There is little, if any, exposure to environmental conditions.• The constant physical demands of the position are lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, balancing, stooping, crouching, reaching, handling, grasping, and feeling.• The frequent physical demands of the position are standing, walking, climbing, talking, hearing, repetitive motions, and eye/hand/foot coordination.• The occasional physical demands of the position are sitting.
