Overall Purpose: Why the Job Exists & What You Will Do:

As the Manufacturing Engineer, you will plan, manage, coordinate, and perform optimization and continuous improvement of manufacturing processes and layouts/expansions to continually enhance and automate areas within Brock Grain Systems.

Essential Job Functions & Expected Outcomes: Your Accountabilities in the Role

A. Manufacturing Process Improvement: 100% of the Job

1. Plan, manage, coordinate, and perform optimization of the manufacturing processes as it relates to machinery and tooling to continually enhance output of the areas while staying within the budget and timelines.

2. Develops process instructions for the cell groups, with the Engineering team, ensuring they meet equipment and tooling standards.

3. Provides second tier training for employees on new work instructions in a way that is easy to understand and follows the processes.

4. Troubleshoots, discerns, and implements the best solution to equipment/tooling obstacles with Maintenance and Product Managers that will maximize output, while meeting budget and downtime constraints.

5. Reviews and evaluates how the machines operate along with the plant layout, and works with the Maintenance, Tool/Die and Engineering departments to optimize the areas.

6. Partners with cross-functional teams and other team members to maximize continuous improvement projects and new product development processes that meet cost and delivery times.

7. Analyzes, researches and collaborates with others (internal and external) within the area to facilitate the CER for the purchase of capital equipment ensuring area goals are met.

8. Works with Engineering and vendors to ensure optimal purchase, use, and creation of machinery and tooling.

9. Researches items that will be purchased to ensure the best capabilities and value, as it relates to new parts, equipment, tooling, or outsourced work.

Position

Requirements

A. Education: Bachelor�s Degree in Manufacturing Engineering or Mechanical Engineering preferred; would consider a combination of coursework and experience.

B. Experience: 5+ years of implementing engineering and manufacturing projects/processes.

C. Certification: N/A

Skills

Strong detail orientation with excellent planning, prioritizing, and organizing skills are required to work effectively in managing various projects. Must be able to take initiative, be forward-thinking, and make solid decisions focused on the goals of the organization. Excellent math and problem-solving skills are necessary to effectively enhance the manufacturing areas. A solid foundational understanding of ISO/Quality Systems, Safety, Lean Thinking and 5S is also required.

E. Technology Aptitude/

Skills

Intermediate Microsoft Office experience required. A working knowledge of ERP Systems and familiarity with 5S and Lean Manufacturing is preferred. Knowledge or experience with computer-aided drafting (CAD) would also be a plus.

F. Language

Skills

Excellent business writing and communication skills are required to plan, partner, and train with others both inside and outside of the organization.

G. Leadership/Behaviors: Strong collaboration/influencing skills are needed to effectively partner with others listen to ideas and implement the best enhancements. Ability to be positive, conceptualize and move forward with projects that are viable and cost effective is also important in this role. Excellent versatility is also key to lead and perform portions of the projects.

Equipment Used:

- This role uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, scanners, printers, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

Physical Requirements to Perform Essential Functions:

- Ability to sit at desk for 6+ hours per day

- Ability to use hands and fingers and to reach for and handle objects to perform tasks frequently

- Ability to write ideas/information in a logical flow for 5+ hours per day

- Ability to read and respond on an on-going basis daily due to nature of the work

- Ability to talk and communicate with others via phone, in-person, and computer on-going

- Ability to listen to customers, problem-solve, and respond accordingly throughout the day

- Ability to read, write and speak English fluently

- Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, stoop, kneel, squat, twist, push, pull, and carry items frequently

- Lifting up to 20 lbs. sporadically

Environmental Conditions & Travel:

- The employee is primarily exposed to a normal office environment with moderate noise. The employee is occasionally required to wear suitable Personal Protective Equipment while visiting manufacturing departments.

- The employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts and occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles. The environmental climate is temperature controlled.

- This position may face inclement weather conditions when traveling.

- Travel: No travel required.
