Job description

Metro Group Inc., a dynamic and growing metal recycling company, is looking for a dependable CDL Roll-Off Truck Driver. In this role, you'll deliver, pick up, and exchange scrap metal containers while keeping safety, reliable service, and positive customer interactions at the center of your day.

Why Choose Metro Group

  • Innovative Leadership: Join a team that looks for better ways to work and deliver WOW customer service.
  • Variety and Challenge: Enjoy a mix of driving, equipment operation, and customer interaction at different job sites.
  • Make an Impact: Your reliable pickups and deliveries help customers manage their scrap and keep material moving through our recycling operations.
  • Safety First: Work with a team that values safe decisions and encourages you to speak up about hazards.

What You Will Do

  • Operate Safely: Drive a roll-off truck safely between customer locations and Metro Group facilities, following traffic laws, applicable commercial driving requirements, and company procedures.
  • Deliver and Exchange Containers: Use the truck's roll-off hoist and hydraulic controls to load, unload, place, and exchange containers according to equipment instructions and company training.
  • Assess Each Site: Confirm safe access, stable and level ground, overhead clearance, and adequate space before positioning or lifting a container. Watch for pedestrians, vehicles, utilities, and other obstacles; use a spotter when needed.
  • Secure Containers and Loads: Check container condition, doors, latches, and transport locks. Tarp and secure loads as required, using safe methods to prevent shifting material or debris from escaping.
  • Monitor Weight and Loading: Check for uneven, overloaded, or unsafe loads; use available weight information and communicate concerns before transport.
  • Inspect Equipment: Complete pre-trip and post-trip inspections, including tires, brakes, lights, hydraulics, hoist components, cables or hooks as equipped, and container securement. Report defects promptly.
  • Coordinate with Dispatch: Follow assigned routes, communicate delays or unsafe site conditions, and confirm pickup, delivery, and container placement instructions.
  • Provide WOW Customer Service: Treat customers professionally, protect their property, and confirm that containers are placed in approved, accessible locations.
  • Maintain Records and Yard Safety: Complete delivery tickets, container records, scale paperwork, and required driving logs. Wear required PPE, follow yard traffic rules, and report spills, hazards, and incidents promptly.
