Chief Financial Officer (CFO)

Greater Valley Health Center (GVHC)

Greater Valley Health Center is seeking a part-time, experienced Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to provide strategic and operational financial leadership for our organization. The CFO will work closely with the CEO, Board of Directors, Finance Committee, executive leadership, auditors, funding agencies, and other stakeholders to ensure strong financial management and long-term organizational sustainability.

What You'll Do

  • Provide strategic financial leadership and serve as a key advisor to the CEO and executive leadership team.
  • Develop and oversee annual operating budgets, long-term financial plans, forecasts, and financial goals.
  • Monitor organizational financial performance, cash flow, revenue, expenditures, and financial sustainability.
  • Oversee accounting operations, including general ledger, fund accounting, reconciliations, accounts payable, payroll review, and financial close processes.
  • Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and management reports.
  • Provide accurate and meaningful financial information to the CEO , Board of Directors, and Board Finance Committee.
  • Oversee grant financial management, including budgeting, expenditure monitoring, financial reporting, and compliance with grant requirements.
  • Coordinate federal, state, and other required financial reporting.
  • Develop and maintain financial policies, procedures, and internal controls.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, accounting standards, grant requirements, and organizational policies.
  • coordinate the annual independent financial audit and serve as the primary financial liaison with auditors.
  • Identify financial risks, trends, and opportunities and provide recommendations to leadership.
  • Participate in Board and Finance Committee meetings and present financial information as needed.
  • Support sound financial stewardship and the effective use of organizational resources.
  • Supervise, mentor, and support finance staff.

What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or a related field.
  • CPA designation required.
  • Minimum of 3 years of progressive financial management experience, including financial planning, budgeting, financial analysis, and oversight of financial resources.
  • Experience with general ledger and fund accounting.
  • Experience with budgeting, financial reporting, account reconciliation, and financial analysis.
  • Experience with grants and/or government-funding programs preferred.
  • Healthcare, nonprofit, federally funded, or community health center experience preferred.
  • Experience working with a Board of Directors, Finance Committee, executive leadership, and eternal auditors preferred.
  • Experience with federal financial reporting and grant compliance preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial management, budgeting, financial reporting, and internal controls.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to communicate complex financial information clearly to individuals with varying levels of financial knowledge.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and computerized accounting/financial management systems.
  • Ability to work independently, exercise sound judgement, and manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Strong attention to detail, integrity, and commitment to accuracy and accountability
  • Valid Montana driver's license.
