Clinical Data Architect
Job description
This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Clinical Data Architect based in United States.
This is an opportunity to shape the architecture and quality of clinical data that supports precision health, research, and patient-focused innovation. You will design FHIR-compliant data models and scalable approaches for integrating and harmonizing complex healthcare data. The role sits at the intersection of clinical informatics, data engineering, interoperability, and healthcare technology. You will work with data originating from EHRs, health information exchanges, claims, and other healthcare sources. Your work will help transform fragmented clinical information into standardized, reliable, and reusable data assets. You will collaborate with technical and cross-functional stakeholders while establishing strong standards for accuracy, consistency, and longitudinal data integrity. The position offers an opportunity to contribute directly to the development of data foundations for AI-enabled precision health solutions.
Accountabilities
- Architect FHIR-compliant clinical data models that align with applicable implementation guides, profiles, and internal architectural standards.
- Design and operationalize data harmonization and enrichment strategies that unify disparate clinical data from EHRs, health information exchanges, claims, and other sources.
- Develop and maintain scalable FHIR-to-OMOP transformation pipelines using dbt and SQL.
- Standardize healthcare data using clinical terminologies and ontologies such as SNOMED CT, LOINC, ICD-10, and RxNorm.
- Design and manage custom value sets to address specialized clinical and research requirements.
- Establish validation frameworks and algorithms that ensure clinical accuracy, consistency, completeness, and longitudinal integrity across data assets.
- Translate complex data architecture and clinical informatics requirements into clear documentation for technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Collaborate across teams to improve the usability, interoperability, and reliability of clinical data supporting research and patient-care initiatives.
- Contribute to scalable healthcare data architecture and integration practices as data needs and industry standards evolve.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related technical discipline.
- 5+ years of professional experience in healthcare data architecture, clinical informatics, or a related field within healthcare or life sciences.
- Strong experience with healthcare data models and interoperability standards, including OMOP, FHIR R4/R5, HL7 v2, CDA/CCD-A, or NCPDP.
- Advanced proficiency in Python and SQL, with hands-on experience integrating and transforming healthcare data.
- Demonstrated understanding of clinical data structures, healthcare terminology, interoperability, and data harmonization.
- Experience designing or implementing healthcare data architecture and integration solutions.
- Hands-on experience with dbt and Jupyter Notebooks is preferred.
- A Master’s degree, professional certification in Clinical Informatics, PharmD, or comparable clinical informatics experience is preferred.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills, with exceptional attention to data quality and detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical and clinical data concepts to stakeholders with varying levels of expertise.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across multidisciplinary teams.
- Qualified candidates must not require employer-sponsored work authorization now or in the future for employment in the United States.
Benefits
- Base salary range of $119,500–$179,000, depending on location, experience, skills, education, and other job-related factors.
- Additional bonus and equity opportunities.
- Comprehensive benefits designed to support whole-person health and well-being.
- Flexible working environment with a remote setup in the United States.
- Opportunity to work at the intersection of healthcare, technology, data science, and precision health.
- Collaborative and inclusive culture that values innovation, accountability, curiosity, and respect.
- Opportunities for professional growth while contributing to meaningful healthcare technology initiatives.
- Resources and support designed to help employees maintain well-being and build sustainable careers.
