Overview

HarperCollins Publishers is seeking a Contracts Manager to join its fast-paced and dynamic Contracts Department. This position is responsible for preparing contracts and amendments for its audio imprint as well as in the Children’s and Trade publishing groups.

The position is Hybrid NYC.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as contracts lead for backlist audio initiative.
  • Prepare, drafts, negotiates, and finalizes contracts and amendments for audio, trade and children’s imprints.
  • Review requests submitted by editors.
  • Ensure effective operations by interfacing with Editorial, Royalty, Publishing Operations and Finance Departments.
  • Interpret contract details to answer queries from internal stakeholders and third parties.
  • Advise on author estate matters as required.
  • Perform other tasks as needed and assigned.

Qualifications

  • 4-year college degree or equivalent work experience
  • 4+ years of prior independent contracts drafting and negotiating experience in the Contracts Department of a book publisher or other relevant experience required
  • Prior background in audiobook publishing is strongly preferred.
  • Strong verbal, communication, drafting and negotiating skills
  • Excellent attention to detail with exceptional organizational ability
  • Able to work independently, set priorities under pressure, and plan workload efficiently in order to meet deadlines
  • Collaborative and team oriented
  • Innovative and adaptable mindset, with curiosity about new tools and processes

The salary range for this position is $70,000- $80,000. We recognize that attracting the best talent is key to our strategy and success as a company.
