Location: Oregon, WI. This is a full-time, on-site opportunity offering close collaboration with fellow engineers and hands-on involvement in meaningful automation projects. Occasional work-from-home flexibility may be available for personal circumstances. Approximately 20% to 30% travel is expected for commissioning and project support.

Note: Candidates must have 3+ years of controls engineering, industrial automation, or systems integration experience, including hands-on experience in at least one of the following: PLC programming, SCADA/HMI development, industrial control panel design, or control system troubleshooting. Candidates must be able to work on-site in Oregon, WI, without employer visa sponsorship. Relocation assistance is not available.

Job Description

As a Controls Engineer, you will design, program, integrate, and commission industrial automation systems while working closely with talented engineers and clients.

  • Design, develop, and program industrial control systems using PLC platforms, primarily Rockwell Automation and Allen-Bradley.
  • Create and enhance HMI/SCADA applications using Ignition, FactoryTalk, and AVEVA/Wonderware.
  • Develop electrical control designs and support industrial control panel integration.
  • Work on automation projects from initial concept and design through testing, installation, and startup.
  • Integrate industrial data systems and communication networks to improve operational visibility.
  • Perform factory and site acceptance testing (FAT/SAT), troubleshoot system issues, and optimize equipment performance.
  • Collaborate directly with customers and engineering teams to deliver reliable, practical automation solutions.
  • Travel to customer facilities as needed for commissioning, troubleshooting, and technical support.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in controls engineering, industrial automation, or systems integration.
  • Hands-on experience with at least one of the following: PLC programming, SCADA/HMI programming, industrial control panel design, or control system troubleshooting.
  • Familiarity with industrial automation equipment, electrical schematics, and control system design.
  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and technical problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with engineers, customers, and project stakeholders.
  • Willingness to travel approximately 20% to 30% for project commissioning.
  • Experience with Rockwell/Allen-Bradley PLCs, Ignition, FactoryTalk, or AVEVA/Wonderware is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of Ethernet/IP, Modbus, OPC UA, industrial historians, SQL, Python, or IIoT technologies is a plus.
