Job description
The Director of Human Resources provides strategic leadership, operational oversight, and vision for all facets of the Human Resources function at Morongo Casino Resort & Spa. This position is responsible for fostering a high-performing, people-focused culture aligned with the organization's mission, vision, and values. The Director partners with senior leadership to ensure HR strategies support business objectives, optimize workforce performance, and enhance the overall Team Member experience.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES ANDRESPONSIBILITIES
- Oversees the Human Resources department and all its functions, including Talent Acquisition, Onboarding, Team Member Relations, Training and Development, HR Technology, Compensation, Benefits, Leave Administration, and Engagement.
- Drives the creation and execution of HR strategies that align with organizational goals, support operational excellence, and promote Team Member satisfaction and retention.
- Evaluates and implements opportunities to improve HR processes and organizational effectiveness, including turnover reduction, performance management, and workforce planning.
- Leads the design and administration of competitive, cost-effective compensation and benefits programs.
- Champions recruitment initiatives to position Morongo Casino Resort & Spa as an employer of choice within the gaming and hospitality industries.
- Oversees learning and development programs to enhance Team Member performance, leadership capability, and professional growth.
- Analyzes and responds to Team Member engagement data, conducting pulse surveys and facilitating actionable follow-up to strengthen workplace culture.
- Directs departmental budgeting, forecasting, and cost-efficiency efforts to ensure responsible financial management.
- Serves as the casino’s Chief Privacy Officer, maintaining compliance with HIPAA and other applicable privacy regulations.
- Promotes and exemplifies exceptional guest service standards; ensures HR Team Members support the property’s guest service vision.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORYRESPONSIBILITIES
- Provides leadership and guidance to the Human Resources management team and staff.
- Recruits, trains, and develops HR personnel to maintain a high-performing and compliant department.
- Drives accountability by setting clear expectations, coaching, evaluating performance, and supporting continuous improvement.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Must demonstrate a high level of discretion and integrity in handling confidential information.
- Extensive knowledge of Human Resources policies, procedures, and legal compliance requirements.
- Proficient in HRIS platforms and Microsoft Office programs, including Excel.
- Proven ability to lead organizational change, solve complex problems, and make data-driven decisions.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
- Collaborative mindset with the ability to influence at all organizational levels.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Organizational Development, or a related field required.
- Master’s degree or advanced HR certification (e.g., SPHR, SHRM-SCP) is strongly preferred.
- Minimum of 10 years of progressive HR leadership experience, including at least 5 years in a senior or executive-level HR role.
- Proven success in developing and executing HR strategies that align with organizational goals.
- Extensive experience overseeing HR functions such as talent management, employee relations, compensation & benefits, and compliance.
- Demonstrated ability to lead organizational change and culture initiatives.
- Experience in the hospitality, gaming, or entertainment industry preferred.
- Strong knowledge of federal and state employment laws and HR best practices.
- Proficiency with HRIS systems (e.g., UKG Pro or similar) is highly desirable.
LICENSES, CERTIFICATES, REGISTRATIONS:
Must have successfully completed a background check and obtained a gaming license issued by the Morongo Gaming Agency, as required.

Must be able to read and interpret documents in English, such as instructions, guidelines, policies, and procedures. Must also be able to communicate clearly and effectively with team members, management, and guests.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
This is a dynamic, fast-paced environment that requires the ability to adapt and perform under pressure. The casino operates with moderate to loud noise levels and is a smoking environment, requiring team members to work comfortably in these conditions.
WORKING HOURS:
Morongo Casino Resort & Spa operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year; therefore, flexibility in scheduling is essential. Team members must be available to work shifts that may include evenings, weekends, holidays, and special events. Schedules are subject to change based on business needs and may include overtime, as well as work on both weekdays and weekends.
