Job description

About Primordial Labs

We're building the next generation interface for commanding autonomous systems in the real world. Our core product, Anura, translates spoken or typed intent into structured actions across drones, sensors, and mission software—enabling faster, more intuitive control in high-stakes environments. We’re a distributed team of engineers, operators, and technologists focused on deploying reliable autonomy at the tactical edge.

The Opportunity

Primordial Labs is hiring a Marketing Director to own marketing for a fast-growing defense technology company. We are seeking a strategic, creative, hands-on Marketing Director to build Primordial Labs' marketing function from the ground up.

You will own the marketing function end-to-end, including positioning and narrative, brand building, product marketing, events and field presence, and social media content. You will work directly with leadership, business development, and engineering to translate deeply technical capability into a story that resonates with operators, program offices, primes, partners, and investors. We’re looking for someone who can move fast and work multiple workstreams at once, creating marketing content with little direction.

What You'll Do

  • Build and own Primordial Labs' marketing strategy, translating business strategy into a plan across brand, product marketing, and communications
  • Build the marketing strategy that enables our Business Strategy; set priorities, budget, and metrics, and present KPIs to leadership
  • Evolve the brand across the website, graphics, videos, events, and social media
  • Produce critical marketing materials for customers and partners: capability briefs, demo videos, white papers, case studies, one-pagers, etc.
  • Write blogs, press releases, capability briefs, one-pagers, website copy, and talking points
  • Own the company's social presence, publishing several times per week
  • Design and run marketing campaigns around product releases, demonstrations, trade shows, contract wins, company milestones, etc.with minimal direction
  • Direct designers, writers, video producers, and agencies as needed. Write clear briefs, review work, and hold quality and deadlines.
  • Own the marketing infrastructure: website, content engine, marketing automation integration, analytics, and KPI reporting
  • Define the marketing org we need over the next 24 months

About You

  • 10+ years of marketing experience, including 2+ years leading a marketing function or team
  • Demonstrated experience building a marketing function from the ground up, with a portfolio of work you personally owned and can walk us through in detail
  • Ability to manage multiple concurrent workstreams in a fast-moving, lean environment
  • Exceptional writing and storytelling ability, with track record of personally producing high-quality marketing content under tight timelines, with samples available
  • Experience marketing a technical product to a sophisticated buyer, with the ability to learn a complex domain quickly and speak about it credibly
  • Experience directing contractors, agencies, and creative specialists, including decisions on what to keep in-house and what to outsource
  • Strong command of modern marketing tooling, including leveraging AI tools where appropriate

Preferred Qualifications

Defense experience is desirable, not required. We would rather hire an exceptional marketer willing to learn the domain than a domain expert who cannot build a function.

  • Graphic Design, layout, and/or video production skills.
  • Experience marketing to DoD, government, or national security customers.
  • Familiarity with autonomous systems, robotics, AI, or human-machine teaming technologies
  • Experience as an early marketing hire at a startup or defense technology company

Important Qualification Note: Due to the nature of our work and federal compliance requirements, this position strictly requires U.S. Citizenship and current residency within the United States. Please note that Permanent Residency (Green Card status) or visa sponsorship cannot satisfy these specific regulatory requirements.

Compensation

Compensation for this position includes a target base salary of $175,000 - $250,000 annually, with the specific figure determined by the candidate's experience level.

We’re committed to fair and equitable compensation and are happy to explain how we determine our salary ranges, just ask!

Our Benefits

  • Beyond a Competitive Salary, we provide a significant equity stake, aligning your growth with ours.
  • 100% Remote: This role is fully remote, open to residents across the US. We believe that talent knows no borders (well, except for the US in this case!).
  • Comprehensive Health Coverage: We provide comprehensive medical, dental, and vision plans so you and your family can stay healthy and worry free.
  • Retirement Planning: Plan for tomorrow with our 401(k) package, complete with a generous 6% company match.
  • Generous DTO: Our generous Discretionary Time off (DTO) policy is all about helping you take the breaks you deserve and live your healthiest, most fulfilling life.
  • Elite Technology Package: Enjoy an elite technology package to make your work effortless and efficient.

Our Interview Process

Our interview process is designed to be thorough and respectful of your time. It typically includes:

  1. Conversation with the People Team: Lets get to know one another first!
  2. Interview: A 45-minute discussion about relevant marketing concepts and your past experience.
  3. Portfolio
  4. Overview

  5. We’ll invite you to walk us through a portfolio of your work. We’re interested in seeing the 'how' behind your results—specifically your strategic process, the creative execution, and the data-driven outcomes of your past campaigns.
  6. Team Interviews: Collaboration is at the heart of what we do. During this stage, you’ll meet your prospective peers to discuss our team dynamics, project workflows, and how we work together to win.

We are committed to a low-stress interview experience—no trick questions or brain teasers!
