Early Childhood Coach & Curriculum Manager (Bilingual Spanish/English)
Job description
About Cora's Kids
Cora's Kids is United Way of Coastal and Western Connecticut's family child care network. Since 2018, we have helped family child care providers in Greater Danbury and New Milford get licensed, earn their credentials, and build sustainable small businesses, so that working families can find affordable, high-quality care close to home.
Position Summary
You will be the person our providers see most. You coach family child care providers one-on-one in their homes as they earn their CDA credential and NAFCC accreditation, and you design the curriculum behind our training series. Much of your coaching and teaching will happen in Spanish. This job is relational as much as instructional: you get to know each provider, show up consistently, and help turn training into something a provider actually finishes.
A typical week might include several home visits, sitting with a provider as they register for a college course online, leading a Spanish-language training session, and setting aside time to update curriculum materials and log your visits. Some evenings and/or weekends will be required. Applications reviewed on a rolling basis.
Key Responsibilities
Coach providers one-on-one, in Spanish and English
- Deliver in-home coaching using the Practice-Based Coaching model: shared goals, observation, reflection, and feedback
- Manage your own caseload and schedule, prioritizing providers by where they are in the accreditation timeline
- Teach in ways that work for adult learners with a wide range of formal education: plain language, teach-back, native-language-first instruction, and respect for providers' caregiving experience
Guide providers through CDA and NAFCC
- Walk providers through the CDA credential and NAFCC accreditation from start to finish
- Give hands-on help with real enrollment and registration steps, such as sitting with a provider through a college registration portal
Help providers keep advancing in quality
- Guide providers through Elevate, Connecticut's quality improvement system: joining as an Elevate Member, writing and carrying out an Elevate Program Plan, and moving up to Member+ and Member Accredited
- Track where each provider stands in the Elevate pipeline and set goals with them for their next step
- Find practical ways to keep providers improving after they earn a credential, such as targeted coaching goals, peer learning, and connections to state and community resources
- Stay current on Connecticut early childhood standards and policy, including OEC licensing regulations, the CT Early Learning and Development Standards (CT ELDS), and Elevate requirements, and update coaching and training as they change
Own the curriculum
- Design and deliver a six-session, NAFCC-aligned bilingual training series: Relationships, The Environment, Developmental Learning Activities, Safety & Health, Professional Practices, and Business Practices
- Tie every session to evidence providers can use directly in a CDA portfolio or NAFCC self-study
- Write, adapt, and translate materials so they are linguistically and culturally right for the providers we serve
- Keep content current as CDA and NAFCC standards change, and use outcomes data to improve it
- Document the curriculum well enough that other facilitators can deliver it with the same quality
Keep records that show progress
- Log visits, coaching cycles, and observations in our data platform as part of each visit
- Track each provider's CDA, NAFCC, and Elevate milestones, and collect brief feedback after visits and sessions
- Encourage and record developmental screenings as a routine part of coaching
Work with partners
- Coordinate with partner organizations on bilingual co-facilitation and shared training content
Job Competencies
- Coaching
- Follow up
- Learning agility
Experience and Education
Required
- Fluency in Spanish and English, spoken and written. You can coach, lead group trainings, and write and translate curriculum materials in both languages. Fluency will be assessed during the interview process.
- Bachelor's degree in early childhood education, child development, or a closely related field; or an Associate's degree in ECE plus a CDA and 3+ years of relevant experience
- 3+ years of experience in early childhood education, including at least 2 years coaching, mentoring, training, or home visiting with adults
- Experience developing, adapting, or evaluating curriculum or training for adult learners
- Knowledge of family child care: licensing, business operations, and day-to-day practice
- Comfortable doing sustained, hands-on work in providers' homes
- Comfortable entering data and working with Microsoft Office or Google tools
- Valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and ability to pass a background check
Preferred
- Direct experience with CDA and/or NAFCC standards, such as holding a CDA, serving as a CDA Professional Development Specialist, or having run a family child care program
- Training in Practice-Based Coaching or a similar evidence-based coaching model
- Experience with developmental screening tools such as the ASQ
- Experience supporting immigrant or first-generation adults through formal credentialing or college systems
- Familiarity with Connecticut's Elevate quality improvement system and the CT ELDS
