Job description
Position SummaryThe Electronics Hardware Engineer designs and develops electronic control unit (ECU) hardware for BWI braking systems (Brakes division) and suspension systems (Suspension division), from schematic design through validation and production support. Essential Duties and Responsibilities• Design ECU circuits, including power supplies, microcontroller interfaces, sensor inputs, and actuator/solenoid drivers.• Select components and perform circuit analysis (worst-case, thermal, derating).• Work with PCB layout designers and review layouts.• Develop and execute hardware test plans; debug prototypes in the lab.• Support EMC, environmental, and reliability testing.• Support functional safety hardware analyses (FMEDA, hardware metrics).• Work with software and systems engineers on hardware/software integration.• Support suppliers and manufacturing through production launch. QualificationsRequired• Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Electronics Engineering.• 2+ years of experience in electronics hardware design, preferably automotive.• Experience with schematic capture and circuit simulation tools.• Hands-on lab skills with oscilloscopes, power supplies, and other test equipment.Preferred• Experience with automotive ECUs, motor/solenoid drivers, or CAN/LIN interfaces.• Knowledge of ISO 26262 hardware development and AEC-Q qualified components.• Experience with EMC design and testing.Key Competencies• Technical depth• Analytical problem solving• Attention to detail• Collaboration• Documentation discipline TravelTravel is needed based on project and product development demands, including technical exchanges, on-site work at customer sites, regional technical centers, supplier facilities and including occasional international travel. Work Environment and Physical Requirements• Work is performed primarily in an office and engineering lab environment, with prolonged periods of computer use.• Periodic time in prototype labs, test facilities, manufacturing areas, and vehicles, including ride-alongs and proving-ground or winter/summer test events.• Must follow site safety rules and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) in lab, test, and plant areas.• Occasionally lift or move items up to 25 lbs.
