The Engineering Manager is responsible for leading the Solutions Architecture, Prefabrication & CAD teams in support of high-quality client solutions and business outcomes. This role requires a team-first leader who develops and supports technical staff, promotes accountability, and works collaboratively across all departments (i.e. sales, operations, project management, engineering, and technology partner teams). The successful candidate will demonstrate strong business acumen, technical proficiency, sound judgment, and a positive, solution-oriented approach to challenges, with a focus on identifying practical and responsible ways to deliver successful outcomes.

Essential Functions:

  • Provides team-first leadership that supports, develops, and empowers teams to deliver high-quality work
  • Strong business acumen with the ability to balance client needs, sales objectives, operational execution, quality, and profitability
  • Demonstrated technical proficiency in security technology solution design, engineering, estimating, and proposal development
  • Excellent collaboration skills and a clear understanding that alignment with Sales and Operations is critical to successful outcomes
  • Maintains a positive, solution-oriented approach when faced with challenges and focuses on identifying practical, responsible paths to successful delivery
  • Strong leadership, organizational, time-management, communication, decision-making, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment while maintaining quality and meeting deadlines
  • Ability to coach, mentor, and develop a high-performing technical team
  • Must pass pre-employment drug screen and background investigation
  • Flexibility to work extended hours when needed

Major Duties &

Responsibilities

  • Lead, support, coach, and develop teams to promote accountability, professional growth, quality, and consistent delivery
  • Model a collaborative, servant leadership style that places the team first and supports shared success across departments
  • Partner closely with Sales and Operations to align client expectations, solution strategy, project execution, and business outcomes
  • Support the sales team with complex site surveys, client needs analysis, solution strategy, and practical approaches for winning and delivering work
  • Oversee workload distribution, project prioritization, and resource planning
  • Review and approve detailed security technology solution designs, including access control, video surveillance, biometrics, network infrastructure, and related technologies
  • Ensure technical accuracy, quality, consistency, and constructability of engineered solutions, scopes of work, proposals, estimates, and implementation documentation
  • Approach challenges with a positive, solution-focused mindset and guide the team toward practical, responsible solutions that support successful delivery
  • Collaborate with Project Management, Engineering, field operations, technology partners, manufacturers, and distribution channels to support execution from concept through implementation
  • Analyze blueprints, technical design specifications, and site survey information to ensure compliant and accurate engineered solutions that meet client operational and security needs
  • Lead technical solution reviews and participate in client presentations, design meetings, and strategic planning sessions
  • Research, evaluate, and recommend emerging security technologies, standards, and best practices
  • Develop and maintain department processes, documentation standards, and solution design methodologies that improve quality, speed, and collaboration
  • Monitor team performance metrics and identify opportunities for process improvements and operational efficiencies
  • Assist the human resources department with recruiting, onboarding, and training new team members
  • Other duties as business and client needs arise

Physical Demands & Environment:

  • Ability to lift 25 lbs.
  • Office environment with collaborative team
  • Travel as needed to client sites, which may include manufacturing, distribution centers, office buildings, and construction sites

Skills & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, equivalent technology-related degree, or equivalent hands-on technical experience required, with a minimum of 7 years of industry experience in security technology solution design, engineering, estimating, or related technical delivery
  • 2+ years of leadership or management experience preferred
  • Detailed knowledge of Microsoft Office and Microsoft Teams
  • Experience with IP Video Surveillance, Access Control, and IP Networking
  • Experience reviewing and developing complex integrated security technology solutions
  • Experience with SiteOwl and WeSuite preferred
  • RCDD certification preferred; additional industry-specific certifications such as CSPM, SICC, PMP, PSP, or similar credentials preferred
  • Manufacturer Certifications/Experience: Honeywell ProWatch, S2, Genetec, CCure, Avigilon, Milestone, or other security technology platforms
  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams, mentor technical staff, manage multiple concurrent projects, and support successful outcomes across Sales and Operations
