Position Summary

The Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Manager is responsible for leading environmental, health, safety, hazardous materials, transportation, and regulatory compliance programs across multiple distribution, warehouse, and manufacturing facilities throughout the United States and Mexico. This position partners with leadership and employees to ensure regulatory compliance, reduce organizational risk, drive continuous improvement, and promote a strong culture of safety and environmental stewardship.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage corporate environmental, health, and safety programs across multiple facilities.
  • Maintain the Safety Data Sheet (SDS) management system, ensuring SDS accuracy, accessibility, product associations, and part number alignment.
  • Maintain hazardous material classifications, proper shipping names, hazard classes, UN/NA numbers, packing groups, and Bill of Lading (BOL) information, ensuring consistency between SDSs, ERP systems, shipping documentation, and regulatory requirements.
  • Lead Tier II hazardous chemical inventory reporting and hazardous waste management programs, including waste determinations, profiling, storage, transportation, and disposal activities.
  • Manage EPA, state, local, and international environmental reporting, registrations, permits, and compliance requirements.
  • Oversee DOT hazardous materials transportation compliance, registrations, shipping requirements, and regulatory changes.
  • Evaluate domestic and international hazardous material shipments, including export restrictions and DEA-controlled or restricted chemical requirements.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain EHS policies, procedures, standards, and management systems.
  • Develop and deliver EHS training programs to ensure compliance with OSHA, DOT, EPA, and company requirements.
  • Lead incident investigations, root cause analyses, corrective action development, and closure tracking.
  • Perform Job Safety Analyses (JSA), PPE assessments, industrial hygiene evaluations, and facility risk assessments.
  • Conduct EHS audits, inspections, and compliance reviews and ensure timely completion of corrective actions.
  • Develop and track EHS key performance indicators (KPIs), including injury rates, training compliance, audits, and corrective actions.
  • Prepare and present monthly EHS performance reports to management and executive leadership.
  • Facilitate safety committee meetings and employee engagement initiatives.
  • Partner with facility leadership to strengthen safety culture, compliance, and operational excellence.

Distribution, Warehouse & Manufacturing Support

  • Support warehouse, logistics, distribution, and manufacturing operations, including:
  • Forklift and powered industrial truck programs
  • Hazardous materials and chemical management
  • Loading dock and material handling safety
  • Emergency response planning and spill response programs
  • Fire prevention and life safety initiatives
  • Contractor safety management
  • Ergonomic assessments
  • Machine guarding evaluations
  • Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) programs
  • Hot work and permit-required programs
  • Confined space compliance
  • Industrial ventilation and exposure control programs
  • Process and equipment safety reviews
  • New equipment and capital project safety assessments

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Health & Safety, Engineering, Environmental Science, Occupational Safety, or related field preferred.
  • 5+ years of progressive EHS experience in distribution, logistics, manufacturing, industrial, or chemical-related operations.
  • Strong working knowledge of OSHA, EPA, DOT, hazardous waste, hazardous materials, and transportation regulations.
  • Experience managing multi-site EHS compliance programs.
  • Professional certifications such as CSP, ASP, CHMM, or OHST are preferred.

Travel Requirements

  • Ability to travel 25% to 40%, including overnight travel, to distribution centers, warehouses, manufacturing facilities, customers, vendors, and other company locations throughout the United States and Mexico.
