As the Manager of Facilities Management, your work ensures the safe and reliable environment our caregivers need to deliver this world-class care. In this role, you will offer support and serve as a leader to your team while collaborating closely with the Construction, Compliance, Sustainability, and Fire and Life Safety Departments. Here, you will learn and expand your skills in these areas, providing a unique way to gain extensive experience you can use throughout your career.
A caregiver in this position works days, 8:00am—5:00pm.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
- Take responsibility for the safe and continuous operation of the assigned facilities shop/trade, including Preventative Maintenance, Operation and testing in accordance with state laws, applicable codes and policies.
- Ensure compliance with all facility regulatory and accreditation requirements.
- Establish systems and processes to attract, develop, engage and retain talented employees.
- Develop Preventative Maintenance needed for maintaining building systems and trade standards/specifications.
- Create a work environment where people can realize their full potential to meet current and future clinical and business challenges.
- Ensure staffing and capacity planning for the assigned shop/trade.
- Focus and guide assigned employees in accomplishing work objectives, holding elevated expectations for self and others.
- Develop and initiate training and operating procedures for respective shops and ensure staff compliance with departmental and organizational policies, procedures and protocols.
- Perform quality assurance reviews of work completed by assigned employees.
- Analyze problems and coordinate work plans with other departments as appropriate.
- Manage current expenses in a responsible manner.
- Review inventory of equipment and materials and initiates purchase requisitions.
- Generate Infrastructure requirements and prioritization for the assigned region working closely with the Director of Infrastructure
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
- Completion of an apprenticeship, trade or vocational program, or equivalent knowledge gained through four years of on-the-job training in the appropriate area of responsibility
- Four years of experience as a fully qualified tradesperson or technician in the respective area of responsibility, such as electrical or plumbing
- Associate degree required; an additional two years of relevant experience may be considered in lieu of the degree
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, engineering or a related field; an additional four years of supervisory or managerial experience may be considered in lieu of the degree
- Master license and other applicable licenses required for the respective trade
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
- Formal education or coursework in business management
- Certified Healthcare Facilities Manager (CHFM), Certified Healthcare Safety Professional (CHSP), or Professional Engineer (PE) certification
- Membership in a professional trade organization
- Additional two years of supervisory or managerial experience
- Healthcare experience
- Experience collaborating with employees, interdepartmental teams, and organizational leadership to effectively achieve goals across the enterprise
PhysicalRequirements
- Typical physical demands require full body motion including ability to perform work while bending, stooping, stretching, climbing ladders; requires dexterity and strength sufficient to operate required tools and machinery; typically required to lift and carry machinery and/or equipment weighing 25 to 100 lbs. and/or assist with lifting weights exceeding 100 lbs.
- Requires color acuity sufficient to distinguish color coded wiring and piping.
