Wheaton Bible Church (WBC) is a dynamic, thriving multiethnic church community seeking to live out our mission to Love God, Love One Another, Love our Neighbors, and Love the Nations in the Chicago suburbs and globally with our 90+ sent missionaries and indigenous partners. We currently hold worship services in both English and Spanish while providing space, care, and leadership coaching for 5 additional ethnic language fellowship groups. Additionally, we serve our local community through West Chicago’s largest social service provider Puente de Pueblo by providing case management services for families, adult literacy programming, and after-school programming for children and youth.Facility Maintenance Manager

Purpose

The Facility Maintenance Manager is responsible for the operation and maintenance of the physical facilities and campus grounds and the on-going development and consistent management of a comprehensive maintenance program utilizing the skills of paid staff as well as volunteers.

Priorities
  • Organize, maintain and supervise all maintenance of WBC’s facilities.
    • Plan, schedule and assign work to provide quality facilities for ministry needs.
    • Determine needed contracted services and/or employees.
    • Tracking and managing of any contracted services (lawn service, snow plowing, etc.)
    • Implement and maintain work standards consistent with best practices and safety regulations.
    • Ensure that a regular preventative maintenance program for facilities and grounds is established and followed.
    • Ensure eSpace work management system is monitored, work orders assigned and completed by staff, and PM schedules maintained and executed.
  • Hire, train and supervise all maintenance personnel.
    • Assist in the hiring of all maintenance employees.
    • Train and supervise personnel in the proper procedures for the maintenance of WBC’s facilities.
    • Manage and develop the maintenance employees.
    • Administer timecards for the maintenance staff.
    • Schedule and coordinate necessary volunteer projects as needed.
  • Interface with ministry leaders and volunteers related to their ministry needs for the facilities.
  • Manage equipment files
    • Ensure that all facility equipment is regularly maintained (mechanical, sprinkler, fire, security, etc.)
    • Maintain service contracts on all related equipment.
    • Maintain asset inventory list and update as needed.
    • Maintain files on all equipment with such information as user guides, warranty information, manual, purchase information, etc. This includes all substantial equipment in the building.
  • Handle budgeting functions for areas of responsibility.
    • Prepare and submit facilities maintenance budget on an annual basis when requested.
    • Manage (track and monitor) facilities maintenance budget and expenditures at least monthly.
    • Include maintenance, contracted services, and equipment upgrades and replacement in budget.
  • Assure the safety and environmental excellence of the facilities.
    • Create a safe physical environment for all elements of the ministry.
    • Responsible for the overall security of the facilities, including management of volunteer Safety Team, and working with local police department.
  • Work with the Facilities Services Manager, staff, and volunteers on other duties, projects and special events as needed.
  • Assist in the responsibilities related to Facilities Management.
    • Manage the set-up of new contracts and services.
    • Assist in managing project related files and documents.
    • Assist Operations Director in the planning and execution of Capital Expenditures, Projects, and Equipment Replacements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Other Responsibilities
  • Serve in churchwide projects or ministry initiatives as needed.
  • Maintain a high degree of confidentiality.
  • Participate as a member of the staff team and be available to assist in general duties as opportunities arise.
  • Attend staff prayer weekly if it falls within your scheduled hours unless excused by your supervisor.

Requirements
  • 5 or more years of experience
  • High School Diploma or GED or equivalent.
  • Able to work under pressure, prioritize, and meet deadlines.
  • Possess knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions of the trades.
  • Able to read and interpret building drawings, schematics, technical materials and manufacturers manuals.
  • Possess a valid Driver’s License.
  • Experience managing or overseeing staff
  • Strong interpersonal skills to deal with individuals within a wide range of situations.

Physical Requirements

Ability to:

  • Lift, push, pull, and carry a minimum weight of 50lbs.
  • Stand for extended periods, kneel, crawl and crouch.
  • Work in confined spaces.
  • Climb ladders and work at heights of thirty plus (30+) feet.
