Job Description Summary

The GE9X Design Engineering team is looking for an experienced mechanical design engineer ready to work on the largest and most powerful commercial aircraft engine in the world – the GE9X – as we progress toward entry into service on Boeing’s 777X aircraft.

Within GE9X Design Engineering, the Lead HPT Rotor Design Engineer will support efforts focused on product durability, validation, and entry into service preparations. At this key pre-EIS phase of the GE9X program, it is critical that the team is prepared to identify and execute solutions to improve durability within the high pressure turbine (HPT), including tasks related to the technical improvement of existing components, supporting TOPS8Ds and leading redesigns of rotor hardware. This role requires cross functional collaboration including systems engineering, the product line team, and across Technology & Operations. It is through your efforts that the GE9X program will be well positioned for a successful entry into service.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Execute the design, analysis, or evaluation of assigned projects using sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product / program requirements. This work would include mechanical and/or electrical engineering for all products
  • Developing in-depth knowledge of a technical discipline. Uses prior experience and acquired technical expertise to execute policy/strategy.
  • In-depth understanding of key business drivers; uses this understanding to accomplish own work. In-depth understanding of how work of own team integrates with other teams and contributes to the area.
  • Uses some level of judgment and has ability to propose different solutions outside of set parameters but with guidance. Uses prior experience and on-the-job training to solve straightforward tasks. Has access to technical skills and analytic thinking required to solve problems. May use multiple internal sources outside of own team to arrive at decisions.
  • A job at this level is likely to be an individual contributor with proven interpersonal skills or an early people leader who can hire and develop talent. Provides informal guidance to new team members

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited university or college
  • Minimum 3 years experience in a similar engineering role
  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required. We will not sponsor individuals for employment visas, now or in the future, for this job opening.
