500 Global is seeking a General Counsel to serve as the firm’s senior legal officer, responsible for the legal architecture underpinning its most critical decisions. This role is central to governance, regulatory compliance, entity structuring, and capital transactions across a global venture capital platform with $2.1B+ in assets under management and a presence in over 80 countries.

The General Counsel, Group advises the Board, CEO, COO, and shareholders, acts as Secretary of the Board and Audit Committee, and is the named Compliance Officer for the Americas. The position sets legal standards, risk thresholds, and templates for the business, ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements and business objectives. Key responsibilities include overseeing governance frameworks, maintaining the US adviser’s exempt status, managing regulatory obligations, leading compliance programs, and directing legal aspects of firm-level transactions. The role also involves managing outside counsel, developing the legal team, and supporting executive compensation and entity structuring.

The ideal candidate brings at least 15 years of post-qualification experience, combining top-tier law firm practice with senior in-house roles at investment advisers, asset managers, or venture capital/private equity firms. Deep expertise in the Investment Advisers Act, Investment Company Act exclusions, Regulation D, and compliance program leadership is essential, along with a proven track record in complex transactions and governance.
