Held Desk Technician

Reports to: IT Director

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Hours: 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. (One (1) Hour Lunch); occasional additional hours as needed

Job Location: 3500 Alum Creek Drive, Columbus, OH 43207- This is an in-person position with regular travel to Company job sites and other locations

General Overview: The Help Desk Technician provides day-to-day technology support to Company employees, with a primary focus on managing Company-issued devices throughout their lifecycle. This includes ordering devices, maintaining inventory, provisioning and configuring phones, troubleshooting issues, and coordinating repairs, replacements, and service.

This position also assists with employee account creation, system access, and general help desk requests. The technician must be comfortable traveling to construction job sites to provide hands-on support to field staff. This is an entry-level opportunity for a dependable, organized individual who enjoys helping others and learning new technology. Responsibilities

  • Order, receive, label, track, issue, and recover Company assets and related accessories
  • Maintain accurate phone inventory, assignments, service records, and available stock
  • Set up, configure, activate, and provision mobile devices for new and existing employees in accordance with Company standards
  • Troubleshoot mobile devices, cellular service, application, and connectivity problems; coordinate repairs, warranty claims, replacements, and carrier support
  • Create and update employee user accounts, passwords, and access permissions using established approval and security procedures
  • Assist with onboarding, offboarding, and routine employee technology requests
  • Provide friendly, timely help desk support for basic hardware, software, account, and mobile-device issues; document requests and resolutions
  • Travel to Company job sites and other locations to set up devices, resolve issues, and support field employees in person
  • Escalate complex problems to other IT staff or vendors and follow through until resolved
  • Learn and adhere to all Company policies and procedures; perform other duties as assigned
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; technical coursework, certifications, or related experience preferred
  • Entry-level candidates are welcome; prior help desk, mobile device, or customer service experience is a plus
  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • Must be willing and able to work in person and travel regularly to Company job sites
  • Must successfully pass a pre-employment drug screening. (George J. Igel & Co., Inc. is a SUPR Drug-Free Workplace and tests for marijuana)
  • Must be willing to sign a confidentiality agreement upon hire
  • Must maintain an MVR (Motor Vehicle Record) that meets the Company’s eligibility requirements

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Basic familiarity with mobile devices, iOS, common mobile applications, and general computer troubleshooting
  • Ability to learn account administration, mobile device management, and Company IT processes
  • Strong organization and attention to detail when tracking devices, inventory, and employee access
  • Clear communication, patience, and a customer-service mindset when supporting office and field employees
  • Ability to follow written procedures, protect confidential information, and recognize when an issue should be escalated
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple requests, and adapt to changing jobsite needs
