Hostess

Toulouse Café & Bar is seeking a personable Hostess to join our team at our River Oaks location. As one of the first points of contact for our guests, you will play an essential role in creating a welcoming and memorable dining experience from the moment guests arrive.

The ideal candidate is confident, attentive, and genuinely enjoys hospitality. You should have a natural ability to make guests feel recognized and cared for while maintaining the professionalism and energy of an upscale restaurant environment.

Responsibilities

• Warmly greet and welcome every guest with genuine enthusiasm and professionalism.
• Manage the flow of guests entering the restaurant and provide accurate wait-time estimates.
• Escort guests to their tables while creating a welcoming and personalized experience.
• Answer and manage incoming phone calls with polished, professional phone etiquette.
• Manage reservations and guest seating using OpenTable and/or the restaurant's reservation system.
• Maintain a fair and organized table rotation to support an efficient and balanced experience for the service team.
• Communicate guest preferences, special requests, celebrations, and other important details to servers and management.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming host stand and restaurant entryway.
• Monitor the dining room and assist servers, management, and fellow team members whenever needed.
• Anticipate guest needs and respond to questions or concerns with professionalism and a hospitality-first attitude.
• Maintain a positive, collaborative working environment and contribute to a strong team culture.
• Complete all opening, side-work, and closing responsibilities accurately and efficiently.

Qualifications

• Previous hosting experience in an upscale or high-volume restaurant environment is required.
• Exceptional guest-service and interpersonal skills.
• Warm, confident, and engaging personality with a genuine passion for hospitality.
• Ability to remain composed, organized, and attentive in a fast-paced environment.
• Experience with OpenTable or a comparable reservation system is strongly preferred.
• Excellent verbal communication and organizational skills.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask effectively.
• Dependable team player who is willing to assist wherever needed.
• Professional appearance and demeanor at all times.
• Ability to stand, walk, and remain focused for extended periods.
• Availability to work a flexible restaurant schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
