The Human Resources Manager leads daily HR activities for assigned NASG facilities and partners with management to recruit, develop, and retain associates. This position is responsible for associate relations, staffing, policy administration, performance management, and accurate HR records.

The HR Manager maintains a visible presence in the plant, addresses concerns promptly and fairly, and coaches leaders on consistent management practices. This role balances business needs with respectful treatment of associates and supports a safe, accountable, and productive workplace.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Partner with plant leadership and Finance to align staffing, headcount, and labor planning with production requirements and approved budgets.
  • Manage recruiting for hourly and salaried positions, including requisitions, candidate screening, interviews, assessments, offers, and coordination with hiring managers.
  • Coordinate onboarding with department leaders to ensure new associates understand expectations, receive required training, and have support during their initial employment period.
  • Monitor turnover, attendance, vacancies, and retention trends; identify underlying concerns and work with management to implement improvements.
  • Maintain regular contact with associates across shifts, listen to concerns, and ensure timely follow-up and resolution.
  • Conduct objective investigations of workplace complaints and policy concerns; document findings and coordinate appropriate action with leadership and corporate HR.
  • Coach managers on attendance, performance feedback, corrective action, conflict resolution, and consistent application of company policies.
  • Administer HR policies and procedures fairly and consistently, including associate handbook requirements, internal postings, transfers, promotions, and employment changes.
  • Coordinate performance reviews and associate development activities; follow up with managers to ensure evaluations and required actions are completed on time.
  • Support compensation administration, job descriptions, wage reviews, and benefit communications in coordination with corporate HR and Finance.
  • Coordinate leave administration, accommodation requests, and return-to-work activities with the appropriate internal teams and service providers.
  • Partner with Payroll to ensure employment changes, pay adjustments, and other HR information are accurate, approved, and submitted on time.
  • Maintain accurate personnel records and HR system data; safeguard confidential information and follow applicable record retention requirements.
  • Prepare and review HR reports, including staffing, turnover, attendance, recruiting progress, and other assigned measures; recommend actions based on the findings.
  • Coordinate training and development needs with department managers, including leadership development, skilled trades programs, and succession planning.
  • Support associate communications, recognition, and involvement programs that improve engagement and reinforce company expectations.
  • Maintain working knowledge of employment requirements applicable to assigned locations; coordinate with corporate HR and legal counsel when specialized guidance is needed.
  • Lead and develop assigned HR staff, establish priorities, and ensure timely, reliable service to associates and management.
  • Improve HR processes to reduce delays, strengthen accountability, and improve the associate experience.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as assigned by management.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred; equivalent relevant education and experience will be considered.
  • SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR certification preferred.

Experience

  • At least five years of progressive HR experience, including responsibility for associate relations, recruiting, and policy administration.
  • Previous HR leadership or management experience preferred.
  • Manufacturing experience strongly preferred; automotive supplier and multiple-facility experience are beneficial.
  • Demonstrated experience conducting workplace investigations, coaching managers, and resolving associate concerns.
  • Experience with HR systems, workforce reporting, onboarding, performance management, and coordination of payroll and benefits activities.

  • Sound judgment and the ability to address difficult situations directly, fairly, and professionally.
  • Strong understanding of HR practices and employment requirements applicable to assigned locations.
  • Ability to build trust with hourly associates, supervisors, and senior leadership.
  • Hands-on approach and willingness to spend time on the manufacturing floor and support associates across shifts.
  • Strong organization, follow-through, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to analyze staffing and retention data and turn findings into practical improvements.
  • Ability to coach managers, establish clear expectations, and hold others accountable for required actions.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities, meet deadlines, and work effectively with limited support.
  • Commitment to confidentiality and appropriate handling of sensitive information.
  • Flexibility to support multiple shifts, occasional travel, and urgent associate or business needs.

Language and Communication Skills

  • Communicate clearly and professionally in writing, individual conversations, and group presentations.
  • Explain policies and employment decisions in practical terms that associates and managers can understand.
  • Read, write, and communicate in the primary language of the assigned facility.
  • Spanish proficiency required for positions assigned to Mexico facilities.

Computer and Software Skills

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Working knowledge of HR information systems, applicant tracking systems, and workforce reporting.
  • Experience with Dayforce preferred.
