What You'll Do

As an HR Specialist, you'll work closely and collaboratively with the HR Manager across all areas of Human Resources. Together, you'll support employees, manage day-to-day HR needs, and continue building and improving HR processes, programs, and initiatives.

You'll take ownership of assigned responsibilities while maintaining close communication with the HR Manager on priorities, progress, issues, and matters requiring review or escalation. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys being highly involved in a broad range of HR functions, working as part of a close-knit HR partnership, contributing ideas, shifting priorities when needed, and seeing work through from start to finish as the HR function continues to grow and evolve.

Core Responsibilities

The responsibilities above are not exhaustive and may evolve as the role and organization's needs change.

  • HR Operations and Administration: Support day-to-day HR operations, provide administrative support to the HR Manager, maintain accurate and confidential employee personnel records, and assist with HR audits and Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Recruitment, Onboarding & Offboarding: Support recruiting activities, candidate screening, interview coordination, offer preparation, onboarding, new-hire setup, and offboarding processes.
  • Employee Support: Serve as a first point of contact for routine employee and applicant questions, escalating more complex matters to the HR Manager as appropriate.
  • Payroll, Benefits & HRIS: Assist with routine payroll and benefits matters, employee updates, timekeeping corrections, HRIS maintenance, and vendor coordination.
  • Performance Management & Reporting: Schedule and track performance reviews, prepare and submit recurring HR reports and metrics, and follow up on outstanding items.
  • Communications, Training & Events: Prepare and distribute approved HR communications, maintain required postings, coordinate training logistics, assist with HR events and special projects, and partner with the HR Manager on employee engagement initiatives and creative HR programs.
  • Employee Relations Support: Assist the HR Manager with employee relations matters, investigations, documentation, and follow-up as needed.

Qualifications

  • 1-3 years of broad Human Resources experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred; equivalent HR experience will also be considered
  • Highly motivated self-starter with a proactive, solution-focused approach
  • Ability to anticipate needs, take initiative, and follow through on responsibilities from start to finish
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Comfortable interacting professionally with employees at all levels of the organization
  • Highly organized and strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential matters with tact, diplomacy, professionalism, and sound judgment
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to identify issues and support practical solutions
  • Working knowledge of HR practices and applicable employment laws
  • Comfortable working in an evolving environment where priorities, processes, and responsibilities may continue to develop

Preferred Qualifications

  • Working knowledge of an HRIS (iSolved)
  • Experience in a law firm, legal environment, or professional-services setting
  • SHRM-CP or aPHR

The typical workday is Monday - Friday, 8 AM - 5 PM.
