Job description
Position SummaryThe In-Room Dining Server delivers warm, attentive, and personalized food and beverage service to hotel guests in the privacy of their rooms. This role represents the hotel’s service standards through polished presentation, timely delivery, product knowledge, and genuine hospitality.

Responsibilities
- Deliver food, beverages, amenities, and special requests accurately, promptly, and professionally.
- Set up in-room dining orders according to hotel presentation standards, including tables, linens, china, glassware, condiments, and appropriate service ware.
- Confirm order accuracy, explain menu items when appropriate, and accommodate guest preferences and dietary restrictions.
- Provide courteous, discreet service while respecting guest privacy and maintaining a calm, polished presence.
- Collect payments, obtain signatures when required, and accurately post charges to guest folios.
- Conduct timely tray and table retrieval; maintain clean hallways, service stations, storage areas, and equipment.
- Answer in-room dining phone calls or assist with order-taking as scheduled, using professional telephone etiquette and up-selling relevant menu items.
- Coordinate closely with the kitchen, front desk, housekeeping, and food-and-beverage teams to ensure seamless guest service.
- Monitor order timing and communicate delays or issues proactively to guests and supervisors.
- Follow all food-safety, sanitation, alcohol-service, cash-handling, and hotel security procedures.
- Inspect service equipment and report shortages, maintenance concerns, guest complaints, or safety issues promptly.
- Support breakfast, lunch, dinner, overnight, banquet, or special-event service as business needs require.
Qualifications
- Previous restaurant, hotel, room service, or luxury hospitality experience preferred.
- Strong guest-service skills with a friendly, professional, and detail-oriented approach.
- Knowledge of food and beverage service standards; familiarity with wine, cocktails, and dietary accommodations is a plus.
- Ability to communicate clearly in person and by phone.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize multiple orders, and remain composed during busy periods.
- Basic math and point-of-sale/payment-handling skills.
- Food-handler and alcohol-service certification, where required by local law.
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods and safely lift, carry, push, or pull up to 30–40 pounds, including trays and service carts.
- Flexible availability, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
