International Accounting Manager

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for an International Accounting Manager based in the United States.
This role will lead accounting and financial reporting activities across more than 20 international subsidiaries spanning multiple jurisdictions and currencies. You will own key international close processes, statutory reporting, audits, and relationships with external accounting providers. The position offers significant visibility across a global finance organization and the opportunity to strengthen scalable accounting operations. You will collaborate closely with Corporate Accounting, Tax, Treasury, FP&A, Payroll, Legal, HR, and other teams on complex international matters. As a people leader, you will coach accounting professionals while serving as an escalation point for challenging accounting and reporting issues. You will also help drive automation, process improvements, internal controls, and finance transformation initiatives across the international organization. Accountabilities:
- Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual close activities across international entities, ensuring accurate, complete, and timely financial reporting.
- Review journal entries, account reconciliations, accruals, intercompany transactions, foreign currency accounting, and other key accounting activities.
- Own statutory financial reporting and local audit processes, coordinating with external auditors and third-party accounting providers across multiple jurisdictions.
- Ensure compliance with local accounting requirements while overseeing reconciliation and conversion of local GAAP results to US GAAP.
- Manage external accounting providers and hold them accountable for accuracy, quality, service levels, and deadlines.
- Lead, coach, and develop international accounting team members while acting as an escalation point for complex accounting matters.
- Strengthen and standardize close procedures, accounting processes, internal controls, and reporting practices across international entities.
- Identify and implement opportunities for automation, process optimization, and greater scalability within the global accounting organization.
- Partner cross-functionally with Corporate Accounting, Tax, Treasury, FP&A, Payroll, Legal, HR, and other stakeholders on international accounting matters.
- Support international expansion, acquisitions, new entity formation, and other global finance initiatives as required.
- Manage multiple entities, jurisdictions, deadlines, currencies, and stakeholders while maintaining strong financial controls and reporting quality.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including substantial experience managing international accounting activities.
- Active CPA or equivalent professional accounting qualification such as ACCA or ACA.
- Previous public accounting experience is required; experience with a Big Four or large regional accounting firm is preferred.
- Strong experience with international statutory reporting, local audits, and monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes.
- Strong knowledge of US GAAP, local GAAP requirements, intercompany accounting, and foreign currency accounting.
- Experience managing accounting professionals and overseeing third-party accounting providers.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple entities, jurisdictions, priorities, and stakeholders within a fast-paced global environment.
- Strong communication, analytical, organizational, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience working within a global technology, software, SaaS, or high-growth organization is an advantage.
- Experience supporting international subsidiary structures across EMEA, APAC, and/or LATAM is preferred.
- Familiarity with NetSuite or comparable ERP systems is a plus.
- Experience with accounting automation, finance transformation, and outsourced accounting models is desirable.
Benefits
- Annual compensation range of $90,000–$125,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
- The compensation range reflects total compensation or on-target earnings, with the upper end reserved for candidates with extensive experience and strong alignment with the senior expectations of the role.
- Fully remote position within the United States.
- Eligibility for candidates residing in Arizona, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, or Virginia.
