IT Support Technician

At Metronet we value providing superior customer service and are committed to the successful operation of our information technology systems. We are seeking a qualified IT Help Desk Technician to assist our associates with questions and problems concerning computer systems, hardware, and software. This will include diagnosing, troubleshooting, and implementing solutions both remotely and on site, and creating and updating detailed process documentation. The technician will work with associates remotely and in person, guiding them through systems configuration and troubleshooting, while aiming to resolve issues with efficiency. Standout candidates will be excellent problem-solvers with outstanding communication and customer service skills.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Customer Support:
    • Serves as the initial point of contact for associates facing difficulties with their computers, software, or any IT-related services.
    • Respond to technical inquiries via email, through online chats, over the phone, or in person.
    • Inform associates about IT products and services.
    • Help with troubleshooting hardware and software.
    • Follow up with customers to ensure satisfactory service.
    • Communicate customer feedback to the appropriate internal team members.
  • Objectives of this Role:
    • Provide quick and effective assistance with information technology systems.
    • Guide customers remotely and in person through systems configuration, troubleshooting, and maintenance.
    • Listen attentively to customers’ questions and concerns and offer optimal solutions.
    • Prioritize customer satisfaction in all communications, directing unresolved issues to next-level personnel.
    • Represent Metronet with professionalism and integrity while helping to advance our company mission.
  • Following job-related instructions and performing other duties as requested, subject to applicable state and federal laws.
  • Imaging and Setup:
    • Imaging and configuring workstations for new associates.
    • Setting up workstations, including laptops, desktops, and other peripherals.
  • Maintenance and Support:
    • Maintaining and repairing laptops, desktops, mobile devices, and other computer peripherals.
    • Documenting, upgrading, and replacing PC hardware and software systems.
    • Providing end-user support for various technical issues via ServiceDesk ticketing system.
    • Offering support for all applications and identifying, researching, and resolving technical problems within SLA.
    • Responding to telephone calls, emails, and in-person requests for technical support.
    • Providing first-level support for printers, copiers, and plotters.
  • Project and Deployment Assistance:
    • Assisting the team with mass deployments and IT projects.
    • Training associates on new technology.
  • All other duties as assigned

JOB QUALIFICATIONS AND

REQUIREMENTS

  • High school diploma or GED required; Associate degree or relevant technical certification (CompTIA A+, ITIL, Microsoft Fundamentals) preferred.
  • Eagerness to learn new technologies and systems.
  • Team-oriented mindset with an openness to constructive feedback.
  • Passion for problem-solving and customer service.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work well with others.
  • Detail-oriented organizational skills.

ADDITIONAL

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Perform on-call rotation duties after regular business hours.
  • 0–2 years of IT support or customer service experience (internships or coursework acceptable).
  • Basic familiarity with Microsoft desktop operating systems along with macOS, iOS, and Android operating systems.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft 365, Powershell, Active Directory administration, Azure Administration, and Microsoft Intune.
  • Basic knowledge of networking fundamentals (IP addresses, Wi-Fi, VPN).
  • Valid driver's license or willingness to travel across state lines required.
