Internal Job Title: Legal Assistant
Location: Houston, Texas | Onsite
Status: Full-Time, Salaried
Reports to: Assistant Vice President, Assistant General Counsel
Bring your contract expertise, attention to detail, and collaborative approach to an in-house legal team supporting Pension Risk Transfer transactions. In this role, you will help draft and manage contracts, coordinate regulatory filings and approvals, and work with internal teams, brokers, plan sponsors, and other external partners to move complex matters forward accurately and on time.
What You’ll Do
Draft, review, proofread, and manage contracts and other legal documents
Support Pension Risk Transfer transactions from contract development through regulatory filing, approval, and execution
Coordinate with operations, filing teams, pricing partners, brokers, plan sponsors, and other stakeholders
Research legal and regulatory issues involving ERISA, pension plans, annuities, and insurance
Track deadlines, organize records, and ensure documentation is complete and accurate
Communicate clearly and professionally with internal leaders and external partners
What You’ll Bring
Bachelor’s degree or a combination of relevant education, experience, and certifications
One or more years of relevant experience with contracts, legal research, financial services, insurance products, or a related area
Ability to understand contract structure and draft accurate contract language
Strong written and verbal communication, organization, and time-management skills
Sound judgment, discretion, and the ability to manage competing deadlines
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and SharePoint; experience with legal research databases is helpful
Preferred Experience
Paralegal certification
Experience with ERISA, employee benefits, pension plans, annuities, or Pension Risk Transfer transactions
Legal assistant or contract-management experience in insurance or financial services
