The
Maintenance Engineer Manager leads a maintenance team responsible for
maintaining, troubleshooting, and improving plant equipment and
facilities. The Maintenance Engineer
Manager is a hands-on leader, working with their team to ensure safe,
efficient, and continuous operations for the plant. The Maintenance Engineer
Manager is an integral part of the Senior Leadership Team and reports to the
Assistant Plant Manager.
WHAT YOU’LL DO:
- Conduct and lead teams in the preventative, predictive, and
- corrective maintenance activities for all equipment and the plant facilities.
- Lead and engage in the diagnosis of equipment failures,
- performing or leading teams in the performance of timely repairs to minimize
- downtime.
- Maintain mechanical,
- electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems side-by-side with the Maintenance
- Team.
- Develop and follow
- preventative maintenance schedules and procedures.
- Ensure compliance with
- health, safety, and environmental standards plant-wide.
- Maintain accurate
- maintenance records using the Computerized Maintenance Management System
- (CMMS).
- Support equipment
- installation, commissioning, and upgrades.
- Coordinate maintenance
- needs and activities with production teams.
- Maintain and manage
- relationships with external contractors and maintenance vendors.
- Identify opportunities
- for equipment improvement and cost reductions.
- Manage spare parts
- inventory.
- Available as needed for
- on-call duties and emergency breakdown support.
- Any other duties as assigned.
Requirements
WHAT YOU’LL NEED
TO SUCCEED:
- Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering,
- Industrial Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related technical degree
- from a regionally accredited college or university required.
- Minimum of five (5) years of practical work experience in a role
- responsible for maintaining equipment and facilities within industrial and/or
- manufacturing environments required.
- Minimum of two (2) years of practical work experience leading
- teams and managing the schedule, work, and performance of others required.
- Prior experience ensuring and implementing EPA and OSHA
- compliance and safety protocols across equipment and facilities required.
- Excellent technical knowledge – fluent with reading,
- understanding, interpreting, and following electrical schematics and
- mechanical diagrams required.
- Tech-savvy – prior experience with one or more Computerized
- Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS), Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), or
- related software required.
- Business acumen – ability to understand the financial impact of
- actions and decisions on budget, read and interpret financial data to drive
- good business decisions, and managing team performance in order to achieve strong
- financial outcomes required.
- Excellent teamwork – proven ability to collaborate
- cross-functionally with internal and external stakeholders to successfully
- complete maintenance projects.
- Solutions oriented – prior experience applying problem-solving
- principles including but not limited to root cause analysis, 5Whtys, and
- Ishikawa diagrams required.
- Strong planning and organizational skills – demonstrated ability
- to balance multiple competing and often time-sensitive priorities required.
- Strong communication – able to succinctly transmit and understand
- complex information both verbally and in writing required.
- Minimum of intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
- (Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint) required.

Maintenance & Reliability Professionals (SMRP)
o IndustrialHydraulic Mechanic (IHM) – through International Fluid Power Society (IFPS)
o PneumaticMechanic (PM) – through the IFPS
o IndustrialHydraulic / Pneumatic Technician – through the IFPS
o Industry 4.0Electro-Fluid Power Systems Specialist – through the Smart Automation
Certification Alliance (SACA)
o IndustrialMaintenance Electrical & Instrumentation (IM E&I) – through the
National Center for Construction Education & Research (NCCER)
o 70EElectrical Safety Certification – through the National Fire Protection
Association (NFPA)
o OSHA 30 Hour&/or OSHA 10 Hour – General Safety Certification
- Six (6) or more years of practical work experience in an
- equipment and facilities maintenance role within industrial and/or
- manufacturing environments preferred.
- Prior experience within the aluminum or metals industry highly
- preferred.
- Strong understanding of and prior experience applying continuous
- improvement methodologies such as Kaizen, 5S, Six Sigma, LEAN, and/or LEAN
- Manufacturing preferred.
