Manager, Configuration Management
Job description
We are looking to add a Manager of Configuration Management to our team. If you enjoy working in a startup environment and are passionate about developing leading-edge electronics for satellites, spacecraft, and aerospace systems, we would like to hear from you.
In this position, you will lead a team responsible for maintaining configuration integrity, traceability, and controlled product definition across aerospace products and programs. This role establishes team priorities, manages resources and technical execution, develops team capabilities, and oversees configuration identification, baseline control, engineering changes, status accounting, and configuration audits. The Manager evaluates configuration status, change impacts, product records, and technical risks to ensure hardware, software, and engineering data remain accurate, controlled, and aligned throughout the product lifecycle.
This position requires an experienced configuration management leader with expertise in aerospace product configuration, engineering change control, product lifecycle management, and configuration assurance. The Manager partners cross-functionally with quality, systems, electrical, mechanical, software, manufacturing, supply chain, integration and test, and program management to resolve complex configuration issues and maintain alignment among engineering definition, released data, as-built products, and customer requirements.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage configuration management personnel responsible for configuration identification, baseline control, engineering changes, status accounting, and configuration verification.
- Establish team priorities, allocate resources, and manage execution to achieve configuration, quality, schedule, and program objectives.
- Develop team capabilities through coaching, mentoring, performance management, technical guidance, and professional development.
- Oversee establishment and maintenance of functional, allocated, and product configuration baselines throughout development, qualification, production, and delivery.
- Manage configuration identification and control of engineering drawings, specifications, software versions, bills of materials (BOMs), product structures, and other configuration items.
- Monitor configuration status, revision history, product traceability, and baseline integrity to identify and resolve discrepancies affecting product definition.

- Evaluate engineering changes, deviations, waivers, and configuration discrepancies for impacts to requirements, interfaces, verification, manufacturing, and released product definition.
- Coordinate functional and physical configuration audits, configuration verification, and reconciliation of as-designed, as-built, and delivered product configurations.
- Administer configuration management plans, procedures, change workflows, status accounting practices, and product release controls in accordance with program and quality requirements.
- Evaluate configuration metrics, change cycle times, audit findings, data discrepancies, and recurring issues to identify opportunities for improved control and execution.
- Implement improvements to configuration workflows, system (PLM, ERP, MES, etc.) practices, traceability, change control, and product data processes that strengthen configuration integrity and lifecycle assurance.
