Job description

The Opportunity

If you program multi-axis CNC in Mastercam and want to own the work from the solid model through to the finished part, this role in aerospace and defense manufacturing is built around that.

The CAM Engineer here takes engineering designs and turns them into efficient, accurate CNC programs, then stays involved through simulation, probing, tooling, and the shop floor. The work also supports lights-out manufacturing and automation initiatives, and you would be accountable for the quality and accuracy of your own CAM programs.

This is a direct-hire, full-time position in Spartanburg, SC, and it is not remote.

Why This Opportunity Is Worth a Look

  • Aerospace and defense manufacturing. You would be programming for an aerospace and defense operation.
  • Multi-axis CNC and CAM technology. Programming covers multi-axis machining operations, with toolpath simulation and verification before any metal gets cut.
  • Lights-out and automation work. You would support automation initiatives, including lights-out manufacturing.
  • Ownership from design through production. CAM programming is yours, and so is the accountability for its quality.
  • Digital Twin, probing, and tooling exposure. You would develop and maintain the integrity of equipment Digital Twins, use Renishaw probing for setup conditions and pass/fail verification, and develop workholding and tooling solutions with the engineering team.
  • Salary range of $80,000-$120,000, depending on experience.

What Your Week Looks Like

  • Translate CAD models and engineering drawings into CNC toolpaths and machine programs, verifying solid models against 2D drawings when required
  • Write CNC programs and G-code for multi-axis machining operations
  • Select cutting tools, speeds, and feeds based on material and machining requirements
  • Simulate and verify toolpaths to catch collisions, errors, and process issues before machining
  • Use Renishaw probing for setup conditions and pass/fail verification
  • Develop workholding and tooling solutions in collaboration with the engineering team
  • Support machine operators with program implementation and updates
  • Maintain the integrity of equipment Digital Twins
  • Support automation initiatives, including lights-out manufacturing

What We're Looking For

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering
  • 1-2+ years of relevant experience
  • Mastercam experience
  • Multi-axis CNC machining experience
  • Experience with Renishaw or Blum probing systems
  • Working knowledge of Siemens, Mazatrol, or FANUC machine programming languages and controls
  • Tooling design experience
  • Strong understanding of CAM principles
  • Attention to detail and the ability to manage timelines and meet commitments

Preferred

  • VERICUT experience
  • SolidWorks proficiency
