Job description

The University of Maine at Fort Kent is seeking to hire a Marketing Communications Manager. The Marketing Communications Manager will set up, create, manage, track, analyze, and report on communications that support new student enrollment efforts. This position reports to the Executive Director of Marketing and Enrollment Management. The primary responsibilities of the Marketing Communications Manager are to manage the University of Maine at Fort Kent’s customer relationship management (CRM) system and oversee and execute the university’s social media strategy and presence. The manager designs and implements effective CRM communication strategies, customizes communications to meet the strategic needs of each target audience, assists in maintaining data integrity, develops and manages messaging, and oversees the integration of various data sources.

The position also manages social media marketing efforts and is integral to developing engaging, unique content that reaches prospective and current students, community stakeholders, and broader audiences. The manager is responsible for following university brand standards and personality, ensuring appropriate placement and timing of content, and working with the Executive Director to develop, implement, evaluate, and continually refine the social media marketing plan.

The salary for this position is $54,000, plus a 10% employer contribution to the UMS retirement plan. Additional benefits (UMSPA Benefits) include medical, dental, vision, and tuition waiver programs for employees and dependents. Essential Duties:

  • Develop, coordinate, and manage an integrated communications strategy that includes texting campaigns, call campaigns, Salesforce Marketing
  • Cloud email journeys, and social media to support student recruitment and enrollment.
  • Manage and leverage Salesforce Marketing Cloud, FormTitan, Linvio, Apsona, and related technologies to execute, monitor, and improve recruitment communications.
  • Lead the development and management of UMFK Admissions’ social media presence across a variety of social media platforms, ensuring content is engaging, strategic, timely, and aligned with university brand standards.
  • Collaborate with the Executive Director to develop, implement, evaluate, and continually refine an evolving social media marketing plan designed to increase engagement, awareness, recruitment, and enrollment.
  • Create, maintain, and analyze Salesforce and integrated software reports and dashboards that support recruitment efforts, provide actionable information for individual academic programs, and track prospective students through the admissions funnel.
  • Develop and coordinate multimedia content in collaboration with faculty and staff, including videos, photography, graphics, and other messaging campaigns that highlight academic programs, student experiences, campus life, and the broader university community for use on social media.
  • Design, implement, and manage integrated, mixed-media communication plans that support new student enrollment, including communications for prospects, applicants, and admitted students throughout the Admissions funnel.
  • Translate enrollment and marketing strategies into effective communications, including drafting content, implementing complex communication plans, coordinating multiple communication channels, tracking results, and providing reporting and follow-up support.
  • Monitor, analyze, and evaluate communication campaigns to determine effectiveness, identify opportunities and gaps, improve efficiency, and make data- informed recommendations to the Executive Director.
  • Maintain accurate and effective CRM data practices, supporting data integrity across Salesforce and related software platforms and identifying opportunities to improve the use of data in recruitment communications.
  • Represent UMFK at appropriate campus- and system-level meetings and committees related to Salesforce software, data integrity, CRM communications, social media, and university-wide enrollment and marketing initiatives as needed.
  • Provide additional marketing and communications support, including writing, graphic design, photography, video, and other creative projects as needed.
  • Perform other similar duties as assigned.

Reporting Relationship: Reports to the Executive Director of Marketing and Enrollment Management.

Functional Relationships: Works closely with the Executive Director of Marketing and Enrollment Management and all members of the Admissions team. Maintains collaborative relationships with faculty and enrollment-related offices and staff, including Financial Aid, Athletics, Advising, and other campus partners.

  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, or other graphic design programs; Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; Salesforce or other relational databases; and social media management platforms preferred.
  • Knowledge of college or university admissions and enrollment processes preferred.

  • Bachelor’s degree and the required knowledge, skills, and abilities outlined above, or an equivalency of knowledge and experience.
  • Demonstrated strength in visual and written communications, including graphic design, advanced writing, photography, and/or video.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and successful use of social media platforms for professional or organizational communications.
  • Marketing communications experience with demonstrated success in email marketing and social media marketing.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in higher education marketing, communications, or enrollment management.
  • Experience with Salesforce Marketing Cloud and/or multi-step email marketing campaign software.
  • Experience developing and managing social media communications across multiple platforms.
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, or similar graphic design programs.
  • Advanced video concept development, production, and editing skills.
  • Familiarity with college admissions and student recruitment processes.

About the Region
