Job description

This Project Engineer role supports project delivery on fast-moving, high-visibility construction projects in the Los Angeles area — work that demands someone who can think on their feet and step up when needed. You'll work closely with Superintendents, Project Managers, and project teams on procurement, documentation, and field coordination, with a real opportunity to step into a larger leadership role when the Superintendent is in training or the PM is offsite.

This isn't a typical seat behind a desk — it's a hands-on role for someone who already has some project experience and wants to keep building toward bigger responsibility quickly. The pace is fast, the projects are varied, and the learning curve is steep in a good way.

This position reports to the Assistant Project Manager, Project Manager, Senior Project Manager, or other assigned supervisor, and works closely with Superintendents, Project Engineers, subcontractors, consultants, and clients throughout the life of a project.

  • Support project safety through training, site observations, hazard identification, and compliance activities.
  • Support quality assurance and quality control — pre-installation meetings, inspections, mockups, first-work reviews.
  • Manage submittal and shop drawing processes; maintain procurement tracking and coordinate material deliveries with subcontractors and vendors.
  • Maintain project documentation — drawings, specifications, RFIs, meeting minutes, and correspondence.
  • Coordinate with project stakeholders to resolve issues and execute assigned scopes of work.
  • Support field planning, sequencing, logistics, and daily reporting.
  • Be ready to step into a more active leadership role on short notice when project leadership is offsite or in training.

  • Some construction industry experience preferred — this isn't a brand-new-grad role; we're looking for someone who already has field exposure and is ready to take on more.
  • Experience on aerospace, technology, high-end retail, or occupied-space projects is a strong plus, but not required.
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and construction management platforms such as Procore, CMiC, and/or Navisworks.
  • Working knowledge of construction documents, specifications, submittals, RFIs, and procurement processes.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • OSHA 30-Hour certification, or ability to obtain within company timelines.

  • Real exposure to high-profile, fast-paced projects — not routine work and not a slow climb up the ladder.
  • A clear path to step up and prove yourself when it counts, with leadership noticing.
  • Work alongside experienced Superintendents and PMs on complex, interesting project types.
  • 100% employee-owned (ESOP) company with a track record dating back to 1925 — your work has a direct stake in the outcome.
  • Full benefits package: competitive pay, bonus program, medical/dental/vision insurance, PTO/sick leave, life insurance, 401(k) with match, and a student debt assistance program.
