Voyatek is seeking applicants to occupy the position of DB2 Database Administrator within our teamNYC Financial Information Services Agency located in New York, NY. This is a 36-month contract position. )

Responsibilities

FISA-OPA has a vacancy for the DB2 Database Administrator (DBA) with proven experience supporting DB2 v12 (or higher) on an IBM z/OS platform. Primary responsibilities include working with application development teams to install and migrate releases, support execution of data fixes, define new and execute databases recovery functions, definition and execution of standard database tuning procedures (e.g., run stats, reorgs). The target systems for which support is required are the Payroll Management System (PMS), the Pension Payroll Management System (PPMS) and the Financial Management System (FMS).

  • Ensure that all installation, configuration, and tuning of DB2 databases are completed efficiently
  • Author and validate procedures for all database processes
  • Identify potential issues and deliver modifications / updates for DB2 programs
  • Communicate with and deliver to Tech Support all elements to be migrated with specific instructions to be performed during the production migration
  • Assist Systems areas with tool upgrades and participate in Disaster Recovery drills.
  • Define and execute databases recovery functions, definition and execution of standard database tuning procedures (e.g., runstats, reorgs).
  • Monitor the health of the key database operations (backup / recovery processes, logging, system response times, etc)
  • Open and manage tickets logged with IBM to resolution.
  • Work with application development teams to install and migrate software releases (DB2 tasks) and support execution of data fixes (backups, packaging for production, etc)
  • Perform DB2 DB troubleshooting of online and batch programs during production, user acceptance testing, integrated system testing, performance testing and development phases of the work effort.
  • Design and execute technical tests to ensure that vendor and FISA software deliveries address the business and technical problems in a manner consistent with FISA standards for quality and completeness.
  • Perform all system administration activities for the IBM InfoSphere Data Replication product. High availability of the product is required as it is a critical part of the City's Financial Management System.

Qualifications

  • Experience with IBM DB2 V12 or higher.
  • Candidate must have demonstrated experience working with application teams to build and maintain data propagation solutions - using “IBM InfoSphere Replication Server”
  • Experience with CICS transaction server.
  • Ability to author REXX scripts.
  • Ability to troubleshoot assembler code.
  • Installation, configuration, and tuning of new DB2 databases.
  • Ability to troubleshoot issues with DB2 embedded within COBOL programs
  • Ability to perform all database admin duties (backup/recovery, reorgs, DB trouble shooting).
  • Performance tuning at a DB2 system level or individual SQL statements/procedures.
  • Knowledge of the Oracle Transparent Gateway product
  • Knowledge of DB2 UDB (ie., experience with DB2 connect)
  • Experience installing and troubleshooting IBM Tivoli LDAP server product running on AIX.
  • Ability to install and manage DB2 on AIX platforms.
  • Deep experience with large-scale, enterprise wide, governmental budget and accounting solutions
  • Experience with IBM IMS database management or higher (preferred). Including ability to perform a checkpoint restore of an IMS database.

A selected candidate will participate in on-call rotation and flexible work hours to support project development.

Education and experience

  • A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college in computer science, engineering, or a related field, along with four years of satisfactory full-time experience in datacenter engineering and operations, cloud engineering and operations, or complex IT infrastructure engineering; or
  • A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and eight years of satisfactory full-time experience in the same fields listed above; or

The wage range for this role reflects the wide array of factors considered in compensation decisions. These factors include, but are not limited to, skill sets, experience, training, licensure and certifications, and geographic location. Compensation decisions are based on the unique facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the hourly range is $110.00 - $120.00.
