Job description

We are looking for a talented Operation Team Manager to join our team specializing in manufacturing for our Cummins’ business in Columbus, IN.

In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:

Lead daily production operations to ensure the team consistently meets safety, quality, delivery, and productivity targets while maintaining a smooth and efficient workflow.

Drive a culture of safety and accountability by promoting safe work practices, identifying risks, and partnering with cross-functional teams to implement continuous safety improvements.

Improve operational performance by identifying opportunities to enhance productivity, reduce waste, and streamline processes that increase overall manufacturing efficiency.

Develop and empower team members through coaching, mentoring, and constructive feedback that strengthens skills, engagement, and performance.

Set clear expectations and direction by defining responsibilities, aligning priorities, and ensuring team members understand how their work contributes to broader business objectives.

Lead projects and improvement initiatives by coordinating resources, managing priorities, and driving execution of key operational and process-improvement efforts.

Maintain high standards of quality and workplace organization by reinforcing housekeeping expectations, supporting quality processes, and ensuring a disciplined production environment.

Foster cross-functional collaboration by working closely with engineering, quality, maintenance, and operations teams to resolve challenges, implement improvements, and achieve shared business goals.

Lead and develop high-performing teams by building trust, fostering engagement, coaching employees toward growth, and creating an inclusive environment where diverse perspectives contribute to team success.

Communicate clearly and collaborate effectively by aligning stakeholders, managing conflict constructively, and providing direction that helps teams work together toward shared operational goals.

Drive execution and sound decision-making by setting priorities, removing barriers, delegating effectively, and maintaining focus on achieving production, quality, safety, and business objectives.

Champion safety and continuous improvement by promoting proactive health and safety practices, conducting thorough root-cause investigations, and leading process improvement initiatives that reduce waste, improve quality, and prevent recurring issues.

Education/Experience:

  • College, university or equivalent degree required, or equivalent experience required.
  • This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.
  • Supervisory experience preferred.

Additional Details:

B shift schedule 5pm-5am Wednesday - Saturday

  • Leads continuous improvement efforts (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma) to optimize processes, reduce waste, and improve efficiency
  • Utilizes data and KPIs to drive decision-making, track performance trends, and implement corrective actions
  • Partners cross-functionally with quality, engineering, HR, and supply chain teams to resolve issues and support business goals
  • Ensures compliance with safety, environmental, and company policies, reinforcing a zero-incident culture
  • Manages resource allocation and staffing levels to meet demand while controlling costs
  • Supports change management initiatives, including new systems, processes, or organizational adjustments
