About the Role

Volare Health is seeking an experienced Payroll Manager to lead and oversee the day-to-day payroll function supporting multiple senior living communities.

This is a key leadership role responsible for the end-to-end payroll process, including weekly payroll oversight, employee setup, payroll system administration, payroll taxes, audits, compliance, reporting, and process improvement. The ideal candidate is an experienced payroll professional who is highly analytical, detail-oriented, and comfortable managing a fast-paced, multi-location payroll environment.

What You'll Do

  • Lead the payroll team and oversee the complete payroll process from data entry through tax compliance.
  • Oversee and audit weekly payroll processing to ensure accuracy and timeliness.
  • Maintain and update payroll policies and procedures.
  • Direct the preparation, analysis, and processing of payroll data.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable federal and state wage, hour, payroll, and tax requirements.
  • Maintain payroll systems and collaborate with HR, Benefits, and Accounting to ensure accurate and effective payroll support.
  • Oversee employee setup and payroll system administration, including job titles, pay codes, locations, and GL accounts.
  • Identify opportunities to improve payroll processes, reduce errors, and implement best practices.
  • Develop payroll metrics to measure departmental performance and costs.
  • Maintain accurate payroll records and reports and manage payroll audits.
  • Ensure the accuracy of direct deposits, taxes, garnishments, checks, and manual payroll calculations.
  • Calculate and process special payments including overtime, bonuses, vacation pay, and termination pay.
  • Train, develop, and manage payroll staff while supporting performance and professional growth.
  • Maintain strong internal controls and identify opportunities for increased efficiency.
  • Oversee year-end W-2 processing.
  • Manage payroll projects and annual departmental goals.

What We're Looking For

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • 7+ years of progressive payroll experience.
  • Experience with ADP HRIS, specifically Workforce Manager (WFM) and Workforce Now (WFN).
  • Strong spreadsheet and database skills with the ability to extract and analyze information.
  • Strong mathematical and analytical skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong problem-solving and organizational skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Strong understanding of federal and state payroll and tax requirements.

Preferred:

  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) designation preferred, but not required.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

This position supports fast-paced senior living environments operating 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. The role may occasionally require extended days or weekend work.
