Position
Summary
The Payroll Supervisor is responsible for the day-to-day payroll processing and compliance activities for employees across 50 U.S. states and multiple legal entities within Dayforce. This role oversees a team of two Payroll Specialists, serves as an escalation point for payroll-related issues, and partners closely with the Director of Payroll to ensure accurate, compliant, and efficient payroll operations while delivering an exceptional employee experience.
Key Responsibilities & Duties:• Process payroll for assigned employee groups across multiple states and legal entities.• Perform payroll audits and reconciliations to identify and resolve errors before payroll distribution.• Serve as the primary escalation point for payroll inquiries and processing issues.• Maintain working knowledge of federal, state, and local payroll regulations, including California wage and hour requirements.• Partner with the Director of Payroll to implement legislative changes and process improvements.• Ensure compliance with internal controls, payroll policies, and regulatory requirements.• Support payroll reporting, audits, and special projects.• Develop and maintain payroll standard operating procedures (SOPs) and process documentation.• Supervise, coach, and support two Payroll Specialists to ensure high performance and cross-training.• Foster a culture of accuracy, accountability, continuous improvement, and customer service.• Provide timely and professional support to employees, managers, and business partners.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of payroll experience, including multi-state payroll processing; California payroll experience required.• Hands-on experience with Dayforce (Ceridian) payroll processing.• Experience supporting payroll across multiple legal entities.• Strong knowledge of payroll compliance, tax withholding, wage and hour laws, and payroll regulations.• Demonstrated leadership experience with the ability to coach and develop team members.• High attention to detail with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to explain complex payroll matters clearly.• Experience working in a high-growth or multi-entity organization preferred.• Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
