This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Principal Cyber Systems Engineer based in United States.
This is a senior engineering opportunity focused on securing, supporting, and evolving complex enterprise technology environments. You will work across AWS and hybrid-cloud systems that support critical business applications and enterprise platforms. The role combines systems administration, cloud engineering, technical support, architecture, and cybersecurity practices. You will collaborate with engineers, developers, testers, and other technical stakeholders to maintain reliable and secure systems. Your work will include designing, deploying, maintaining, and troubleshooting Linux and Windows environments at enterprise scale. You will also contribute to technical documentation, system analysis, network upgrades, and the continuous improvement of infrastructure. The position offers exposure to diverse technologies and projects while providing opportunities to influence technical direction and grow as an engineering leader.
Accountabilities
- Provide system administration support to engineering, development, and testing teams while maintaining appropriate system security standards.
- Design, build, deploy, and maintain AWS and hybrid-cloud infrastructure in collaboration with cross-functional engineering teams.
- Monitor, maintain, and troubleshoot complex enterprise systems and applications, providing Tier-2 and Tier-3 technical support.
- Support the architecture, deployment, maintenance, and administration of Linux and Windows operating systems within large enterprise environments.
- Collect and analyze system data to identify issues, performance trends, and opportunities for infrastructure improvement.
- Support network upgrades and other infrastructure changes while minimizing operational disruption.
- Produce accurate technical documentation, system diagrams, and other artifacts describing infrastructure configurations and engineering work.
- Contribute to IT systems design, deployment, administration, and lifecycle management.
- Collaborate with engineers, developers, testers, and technical stakeholders to address program support needs and maintain system reliability.
- Apply cloud security principles and enterprise security standards throughout infrastructure design and administration.
- Contribute to an Agile development environment and help improve engineering processes and technical practices.
- Provide technical leadership and guidance to team members as appropriate.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree with at least 5 years of relevant experience, Master's degree with at least 3 years, PhD with at least 1 year, or 9 years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree.
- Demonstrated experience designing, deploying, administering, and supporting cloud-based solutions.
- Strong experience with the architecture, maintenance, and administration of Linux and Windows operating systems in large enterprise environments.
- Proven background in IT systems design, deployment, administration, and operational support.
- Experience working with AWS or other major cloud platforms and hybrid-cloud environments.
- Ability to troubleshoot complex infrastructure issues and provide effective Tier-2 and Tier-3 support.
- Strong understanding of enterprise infrastructure, system security, and operational reliability.
- Cloud service certification such as AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, or a comparable credential is preferred.
- Experience with one or more programming languages is advantageous.
- Experience in technical leadership, team leadership, or comparable senior engineering responsibilities is preferred.
- Knowledge of cloud database technologies such as MySQL RDS and PostgreSQL is a plus.
- Understanding of cybersecurity principles as applied to cloud environments.
- Comfortable working in Agile development environments.
- Strong communication, analytical, documentation, and problem-solving skills.
- Willingness to travel approximately 10% of the time.

- Annual base salary range of $113,900–$170,900, with final compensation determined by factors including experience, education, skills, responsibilities, and market conditions.
