Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Production Manager to oversee production for Women's Outerwear, Activewear, and Sportswear.
This position will manage the apparel production lifecycle while partnering with internal teams, overseas factories, vendors, agents, and offices to ensure products meet quality, cost, and delivery requirements.
The ideal candidate has extensive apparel production and sourcing experience, strong garment construction and costing knowledge, experience negotiating with overseas factories, and direct experience working with Costco's production processes and procedures.
Candidates must be willing and able to work on-site in New York City five days per week.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage production activities across Women's Outerwear, Activewear, and Sportswear.
- Partner with Sales, Planning, Technical Design, Fabric, Design/Product Development, overseas vendors, factories, agents, and international offices.
- Manage production priorities and coordinate the activities of the production team.
- Manage Time and Action calendars and negotiate critical production and approval dates for each style.
- Maintain daily communication with overseas factories, vendors, offices, and internal departments.
- Identify and resolve issues that could affect product quality, production schedules, or delivery dates.
- Monitor weekly WIP reports from factories and vendors.
- Issue purchase orders to vendors and factories.
- Prepare and maintain garment cost sheets.
- Negotiate costing and production requirements with factories and vendors.
- Create shortage and overage memos as required.
- Coordinate production issues with Design, Sales, and Technical Design.
- Address logistical concerns with internal departments, overseas offices, vendors, and agents.
- Keep senior production leadership informed of issues that could affect quality or delivery.
- Partner with Sales regarding delivery extensions when required.
- Review and approve shipment extensions.
- Approve vessel bookings in coordination with the Import department.
- Identify opportunities to improve production department efficiency and workflow.
Required Qualifications
- 7+ years of apparel production and/or sourcing experience.
- Direct experience working with Costco and its production processes and procedures.
- Strong experience with garment production, construction, and costing.
- Demonstrated experience creating garment cost sheets.
- Strong factory and vendor negotiation experience.
- Experience working directly with overseas factories, vendors, agents, and/or international production offices.
- Experience managing Time and Action calendars, production schedules, WIP, approvals, and delivery deadlines.
- Strong understanding of apparel production and supply-chain processes.
- Excellent organization, communication, and cross-functional coordination skills.
- Ability to manage changing priorities and resolve production issues quickly.
- Must be able to work on-site in New York City five days per week.
