Brunel has partnered with SB Energy to hire a Project Manager, Gas & Fuel Supply – Power Generation to support their growing power generation and data center infrastructure portfolio. Backed by SoftBank Group and Ares Infrastructure, SB Energy develops, builds, owns, and operates large-scale power and data center infrastructure projects across the U.S.

In this role, you will help drive the strategy, development, contracting, and operational readiness of natural gas supply and transportation arrangements supporting SB Energy’s gas-fired generation assets in Ohio. You will work across commercial, technical, regulatory, legal, finance, and operations teams to ensure reliable, economic, and resilient fuel supply for critical power infrastructure.

About the role

The Project Manager, Gas & Fuel Supply – Power Generation will support and drive the fuel supply strategy for gas-fired generation assets in Ohio, with responsibility for natural gas supply, transportation, pipeline capacity, interconnections, commercial agreements, reliability planning, and operational readiness.

Reporting to the Project Director, Development & Integration, and working closely with Commercial & Offtake and other cross-functional teams, this individual will evaluate upstream supply and transportation alternatives, manage relationships with producers and pipeline companies, support commercial negotiations, identify and mitigate fuel-related risks, and coordinate fuel requirements with generation technology, engineering, permitting, construction, project economics, and operations.

Location: Piketon, OH – Hybrid or On-Site

Travel: Up to 60% travel if working in a hybrid arrangement.

Base Salary: $140,000 – $170,000

Responsibilities

  • Support and develop an integrated fuel supply strategy, including demand forecasts, reliability criteria, contingency planning, and commercial roadmaps for development and operations.
  • Assess upstream natural gas supply, interstate and intrastate pipeline transportation, lateral and interconnect options, available capacity, pressure and gas quality requirements, storage, balancing, and redundancy.
  • Lead or support RFPs, commercial evaluations, negotiations, and execution of gas supply, transportation, interconnection, balancing, and related agreements.
  • Coordinate fuel assumptions and facility requirements with generation technology selection, heat-rate modeling, dispatch profiles, air permitting, site layout, pipeline engineering, project schedules, and project economics.
  • Manage relationships with natural gas producers, marketers, pipeline companies, utilities, consultants, legal counsel, and regulatory stakeholders.
  • Identify and evaluate basis, congestion, curtailment, credit, capacity, construction, regulatory, force majeure, and operational risks and recommend appropriate mitigation strategies.
  • Track pipeline and lateral development, metering and regulation facilities, permits, easements, procurement, construction, testing, nomination readiness, and first-gas milestones.
  • Develop and review fuel budgets, forecasts, decision-support materials, and contract compliance processes.
  • Support lender, investor, customer, and internal diligence related to fuel supply and transportation.
  • Plan the transition of fuel scheduling, nominations, imbalance management, settlement, and emergency procedures to the operating organization.
  • Support decisions regarding target pipelines, lateral/interconnect ownership models, firm transportation capacity requirements, dual-fuel or backup-fuel strategies, and operating dispatch assumptions.
  • Coordinate commercial approval limits, credit and hedging responsibilities, and 24/7 operational support requirements across internal teams.

Qualifications/

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Finance, Economics, Business, Energy Management, or a related discipline.
  • 5+ years of experience in natural gas supply, transportation, origination, trading, pipeline development, or fuel procurement supporting power generation or large industrial loads.
  • Strong knowledge of physical natural gas markets, pipeline tariffs and operations, transportation contracts, nominations and balancing, pricing, basis risk, and reliability planning.
  • Experience negotiating commercial agreements and coordinating technical, legal, credit, regulatory, finance, and operations stakeholders.
  • Ability to analyze fuel demand, heat-rate and dispatch assumptions, market data, transportation alternatives, and commercial risk.
  • Strong negotiation, relationship-management, quantitative, presentation, and decision-support skills.
  • Experience with PJM-region gas-electric coordination and relevant pipeline systems is preferred.
  • Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment while managing multiple commercial and technical priorities.

Compensation & Benefits

The base salary range for this position is $140,000 – $170,000. Final compensation will be determined based on experience, skills, location, market benchmarks, and internal equity.
