Job description

UDR is seeking an organized, technically fluent Project Manager to lead technology deployments across our multi-family portfolio. This is a highly visible opportunity to deliver the property technology behind resident experience and community operations, from perimeter access control and security camera systems to smart home and related security infrastructure.

You will be the person who brings clarity to complex work: keeping vendors, property teams, and internal IT aligned, managing dependencies and timelines, surfacing risks early, and ensuring leadership has a clear view of project health and outcomes. While our vendors and internal IT teams

lead technical design and installation, you will move the work forward with structure, communication, and strong follow-through.

This is a project delivery role, not a security administration, security operations, or facilities operations role. You are a professional project manager first.

Salary Range: $98,761.00/yr. – $116,189.00/yr. + eligible for 10% annual bonus potential

What You'll Do

  • Own project delivery across a portfolio of concurrent technology initiatives spanning perimeter access, security camera systems, and smart home technologies; accountable for project outcomes while vendors and internal IT teams retain ownership of technical design and
  • installation.
  • Develop and maintain project plans, schedules, and status reports that conform to IT's standard project methodology; drive delivery accountability across teams and escalate scope, schedule, budget, or risk issues to appropriate decision-makers in a timely manner.
  • Serve as the primary coordination point between internal teams and third-party vendors; manage vendor timelines, facilitate SOW and change order reviews, and hold external partners accountable to commitments.
  • Build and maintain stakeholder relationships across all levels, from property teams and technical leads to senior leadership; deliver proactive status reporting on milestones, dependencies, risks, and issues, and support steering committee and monthly project reviews as needed.
  • Support feasibility studies, vendor selection, and proposal evaluation; coordinate testing phases and help stakeholders evaluate outcomes.
  • Develop and report metrics to track project status and measure success.
  • Maintain central project repositories and documentation standards; contribute to the ongoing development of IT PMO practices, templates, and tools.
  • Perform other duties as assigned or as necessary.

What You'll Bring

  • Four to six years of successful project management experience, ideally in IT infrastructure, construction/technology deployment, low-voltage systems, network rollouts, or similar technical project environments.
  • UDR, Inc. — Project Manager II – Property Technology
  • PMP certification or a demonstrated background working within structured project delivery environments, including formal methodologies, portfolio governance, and PMO practices.
  • A Bachelor's Degree in Information Systems Management, Business Administration, Technology Management, or a related field; an equivalent blend of education and experience is also welcome.
  • Strong vendor management experience: able to review SOWs and change orders, hold vendors accountable to deliverables, and manage multi-vendor coordination.
  • Demonstrated experience with mainstream project management tools such as Trello, Jira, Planview, or Microsoft Project.
  • Comfort participating in technical conversations, asking smart questions, identifying understated risks or dependencies, and translating complex concepts for property teams and business stakeholders. This is a project leadership role rather than a hands-on technical role.
  • Familiarity with IoT technology, property technology, or physical security principles is a plus.
  • A practical, thoughtful approach to using AI productivity tools to strengthen reporting, documentation, and workflow efficiency.
  • Experience with Agile, waterfall, and hybrid project methodologies.
  • Excellent written and oral communication

    skills

  • able to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals, and to present clearly to top management, vendors, and project staff.

What Makes You Successful

You know how to lead through influence. You are equally comfortable partnering with technical vendors, property teams, business leaders, and you know that strong project management is not just about maintaining a plan; it is about creating alignment, building trust, and helping people make

progress through ambiguity.

You are proactive, steady under pressure, and naturally curious. You can zoom into the details when an install is at risk, then zoom back out to give leadership a clear, concise view of what matters most. You know when to determine whether a task should be attempted, how to prepare for unexpected

difficulties, and how to delegate effectively to meet deadlines and deliver on commitments within budget.

Work Environment

This is a hybrid position with regular in-office collaboration each week. Occasional travel to properties may be required but is not a regular part of the role; site visits may involve exposure to outside elements. Occasional evening or weekend work may occur around key installs, cutovers, or go-lives.
