Essential Duties and Responsibilities

In this role, you will lead the implementation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of the N3B Quality Assurance Program (QAP). You will guide a dedicated team of quality assurance professionals executing assessments, supplier evaluations, and field surveillances. Operating with minimal management oversight, you will ensure all deliverables are completed safely, on schedule, and within budget, in strict alignment with ASME NQA-1 standards, DOE O 414.1D/F, 10 CFR 830, and contract requirements.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assessment & Improvement Leadership: Lead efforts to identify opportunities for process improvements in the conduct of assessments (e.g., audits and field surveillances).
  • Team Mentorship & Coordination: Coach and mentor others in quality topics and activities. Coordinate with management both internal and external to the Mission Assurance department.
  • Performance Metrics: Develop and maintain process capability metrics for products and utilize statistical methods to develop and implement capability improvements, including management of performance to key performance indicators (KPIs) to drive QAP improvements.
  • Field Oversight: Lead the field surveillance team to align with contract deliverables and manage work to ensure deliverables are met within schedule and budget with minimum management oversight.
  • Supply Chain & Procurement QA: Oversee the evaluation of suppliers for the provision of items and services meeting NQA-1, DOE O 414.1D/F, and 10 CFR 830 requirements, and ensure the implementation of quality assurance requirements in the procurement of items and services.
  • Nonconformance Management: Manage and implement nonconformance reporting (NCR) programs.
  • Training and Qualification: Track and manage personnel training to ensure all personnel are qualified to perform their roles.
  • Field Operations Support: Participate in fieldwork, including site visits, to support the QA program's oversight requirements.
  • Compliance & Safety: Adhere to company policies, procedures, code of conduct, security, and environmental and safety program requirements.

Education and Licensure

Bachelor’s degree in a technical field or equivalent combination of education and experience

Skills, Experience and Qualifications

Required Skills, Experience, and Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • A minimum of 2+ years of experience leading QA assessments as a Lead Auditor.
  • Experience performing assessments based on nuclear NQA-1, DOE O 414.1D/F, and 10 CFR 830 quality systems
  • Experience with the implementation of quality assurance requirements in the procurement of items and services and evaluating suppliers meeting NQA-1, DOE O 414.1D/F, and 10 CFR 830 requirements.
  • Experience with the management of nonconformance reporting programs.
  • Collaborative leadership style with strong communication skills.
  • Due to federal contract security requirements, candidates must be able to successfully pass a federal background investigation to secure and maintain DOE Q security clearance if required.

Preferred Qualifications and Location Details

  • Security Clearance: Preference will be given to applicants currently holding an active DOE L or Q level security clearance.
  • Certifications: ASQ CQE, Six Sigma, and/or Lead Auditor certification.
  • NQA-1 Qualification: Qualified as an NQA-1 Lead Auditor.
  • S/CI Program Knowledge: Experience in implementing the DOE-mandated Suspect/Counterfeit Item program.
  • Onsite position in Los Alamos, NM.
  • At times, this position may include fieldwork, including site visits requiring safety protocols and appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
