Job description

Responsible to lead and motivate a team of outside sales reps to achieve company defined goals that will include: Top-Line Sales, Gross Profit targets, Customer Balance requirements and various company initiatives. Regional Sales Managers will be required to achieve growth within a defined geographic region.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Supervision of the outside sales representatives.
  • Coach sales representatives to achieve optimal performance and support both short and long term development.
  • Develop effective sales and product training for all outside and inside sales reps.
  • Establishes and manages defined sales objectives.
  • Review and analyze territory and regional sales reports
  • Establish and maintain a close relationship with the top 25 key accounts in each territory or market.
  • Manage pricing policies to achieve sales and gross margin goals.
  • Develop, monitor and achieve the annual sales budget.
  • Provide the leadership necessary as an integral member of the branch/regional management team.
  • Provide sales input to the marketing departments to achieve the branch goals.
  • Recommends product lines by identifying new product opportunities and service changes.
  • Plan, organize and coordinate vendor sponsored sales and promotions, marketing and training activities.
  • Support all other areas and departments as required or assigned.
  • Ensure that trends of underperformance are addressed with clear documented performance improvement plans.
  • Know and manage the business by effectively using sales reports, assessing branch results, and developing specific actions directly related to growth and business development.
  • Create lasting relationships with customers by interacting with them through ride-a-longs with sales representatives and personal visits.
  • Survey consumer needs local economic conditions, and trends as well as tracking competitor’s trends and growth.
  • Responsible for identifying potential growth and/or expansion opportunities which includes analysis of cost, ROI and profit forecast.
  • Spearhead the recruitment process to ensure that the best people are being selected and hired.
  • Maintain a current succession plan/career path for each location team, and the region as an operating unit.
  • Responsible to consistently and effectively communicate the company objectives to all Outside Sales Representatives through regular meetings.
  • Travel regularly to all territories within the region.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Industrial, commercial or cabinet sales, or distribution background, or related industry experience, is desired.
  • Must have excellent Microsoft Office skills with emphasis on Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and a clean DMV record.

Education and/or Experience

  • BS/BA Marketing/Sales Management degree or equivalent experience.
  • Five years prior experience successfully demonstrating sales growth through a team of outside sales representatives.
  • Increasing responsibilities and levels of success in a route sales type environment. Five to eight years’ experience is preferred.

Requirements

This work requires the following physical activities: climbing, bending, stooping, kneeling, twisting, reaching, sitting, standing, walking, lifting up to 50 lbs. of material, finger dexterity for activities such as data entry and calculator use, grasping, repetitive motions, speaking, hearing, visual acuity, and mobility between locations. The position requires sufficient manual dexterity to operate vehicles, maintain visual acuity, and safely navigate varying road conditions. Work is performed both indoors and outdoors and may involve exposure to varying weather conditions, temperatures, traffic environments, and warehouse operations. This is a safety sensitive position.
