Schedule: Monday–Friday, approximately 40 hours/week with potential overtime
Project Type: New Construction – Electrical Contractor
Per Diem: Local candidates only; no per diem available
Medcor Safety is currently seeking an experienced Safety Professional to support a new construction project in Porterville, CA.
This is a full-time, project-based opportunity anticipated to last approximately 8–9 months. The Safety Professional will work closely with field crews, project leadership, and site management to identify potential hazards, promote safe work practices, and ensure compliance with applicable safety requirements.
The ideal candidate is a strong communicator who is comfortable working in an active construction environment and partnering with employees at all levels to maintain a strong culture of safety.
What You'll Do
- Develop positive, professional relationships with field personnel, management, contractors, and outside agencies throughout all phases of the project.
- Conduct regular safety audits and jobsite observations to identify hazards, unsafe conditions, and opportunities for improvement.
- Recognize and reinforce safe work practices among field crews.
- Document findings from site inspections and communicate corrective actions to appropriate project personnel.
- Review and audit employee safety training records.
- Support implementation and compliance with federal, state, local, client, and site-specific safety requirements.
- Review and assist with accident reports, safety bulletins, publications, and other safety-related documentation.
- Participate in the development and implementation of Site-Specific Safety Plans.
- Participate in project kickoff meetings, toolbox talks, and other safety meetings.
- Review client and owner safety requirements and help ensure ongoing project compliance.
What We're Looking For
- 3+ years of construction safety experience required
- OSHA 30-Hour Construction certification required
- Current CPR/First Aid certification required
- CHST certification preferred
- OSHA 500 certification preferred
- Strong knowledge of construction safety practices and applicable OSHA requirements
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively with field employees, contractors, supervisors, and project leadership
- Strong attention to detail and documentation skills
Computer Skills
Candidates should be comfortable with basic computer applications, including word processing, spreadsheets, email, and internet-based systems used for safety documentation and communication.
Physical Requirements
While performing the duties of this position, the employee may regularly be required to stand, walk, bend, squat, sit, climb stairs or ladders, and work on elevated platforms. The position may occasionally require lifting objects weighing up to 50 pounds. The employee must also possess the vision, hearing, and manual dexterity necessary to safely perform work in an active construction environment.
