The Opportunity
Hyatt Hotels Corporation seeks an experienced Senior Data Engineer who will be an exceptional addition to our growing engineering team. The Senior Data Engineer will work closely with engineering, product managers and data science teams to meet data requirements of various initiatives in Hyatt.
As a Senior Data Engineer, you will take on big data challenges in an agile way. In this role, you will build data pipelines that enable engineers, analysts and other stakeholders across the organization. You will build data models to deliver insightful analytics while ensuring the highest standard in data integrity. You will integrate different data sources, improve the efficiency, reliability, and latency of our data system, help automate data pipelines, and improve our data model and overall architecture. You will be leading multiple data projects with planned and coordinated execution and on-time delivery of quality products.
You will be part of a highly visible, collaborative and passionate data engineering team and will be working on all the aspects of design, development and implementation of scalable and reliable data products and pipelines.
Applying the latest techniques and approaches across the domains of data engineering, and machine learning engineering isn’t just a nice to have, it’s a must.

The Role
Overview
The Senior Data Engineer designs, develops, and supports scalable data products, platforms, and pipelines that enable operational reporting, business intelligence, self-service analytics, and advanced AI capabilities. This role partners with cross-functional teams to translate business needs into reliable, high-quality technical solutions while providing operational leadership and solving complex data-engineering challenges.
Key Responsibilities
- Partner with product managers, data scientists, machine-learning teams, business stewards, engineering teams, and program management to define product features, business deliverables, and data-product strategies.
- Collaborate with business partners, operations teams, and senior management to provide day-to-day operational support and resolve data-related issues.
- Support operational reporting, self-service data-engineering initiatives, production data pipelines, business-intelligence platforms, and the advancement of AI capabilities.
- Engage with diverse stakeholders to gather and understand business requirements, assess feasibility and impact, and deliver high-quality solutions on schedule.
- Design scalable, secure, and sustainable data solutions, recommending alternative approaches when appropriate.
- Work with high-volume datasets, optimize database queries, and resolve complex technical problems across data platforms and pipelines.
- Acquire, ingest, transform, and integrate large and complex datasets using modern data-engineering technologies.
- Contribute to multiple projects, priorities, and business demands simultaneously while maintaining quality and delivery commitments.
- Operate effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative, and iterative environment.
- Exercise independent judgment in selecting methods, technologies, and approaches to achieve business and technical objectives.
- Participate actively in an Agile/Scrum environment, including planning, estimation, refinement, delivery, and continuous improvement.
- Promote data quality, reliability, scalability, observability, security, and operational excellence across data products and platforms.
- Mentor engineers, share technical knowledge, and contribute to engineering standards, best practices, and architectural decisions.
